Well if your looking to get a xbox i recommend getting one at game crazy or another used source, as i can only mod 95 % of the xbox's the 5 percent being the brand new ones that just came out, but you can usually get a used or refurbished on from game crazy and other "used/trade in" game stores for about 119.99. Then if you want to get the most out of it just go to www.pricewatch.com and get a 120 gig ide hard drive for about $61 dollars and thats all you need to have giant media center. (with enough room for about 30 games, 50 movies, and 100+ mp3's. thanks -zenofex-

yeah, anyone who has it done would deffinetly recommend it, ive modded at least 30 xbox's with the no-modchip technique, and everyone loves it. Its a must for any gamers, emulator fanatics, or media buff's. Games Load 10 times as fast and you never need the disc again!! thanks -zenofex-

I was trying to burn the game "The Incredibles" and was unsuccessful. Have you had any trouble copying any other games and have you been able to find a solution. Are they just coded differently?

its not the dashboard its the bios.... and when you say copy game did you try to copy and burn it on your pc? which this will not work... or did you put it in your xbox to put it on your hd?
or did you download the game then try to burn?
Im kinda a expert in this and other stuff but SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

then its the bios :)

bios stands for the Basic Input Output System, and its what controlls what the hardware does before it actually boots the dashboard. The Bios is located on the onboard TSOP witch is what is flashed to allow you to be able run game cd's (without the digital signature) and to be able to use your hard drive to the full potential. The Dashboard is like the equivalent of windows for the computer, it is not associated a part of the bios and could also not be modified without first changing the onboard bios or getting a modchip (witch bypasses the onboard bios and uses the chip on the modchip). The dashboard actually is nothing more than a default.xbe (the same default file the games use to boot up) and you could actually in theory just put a game on your c drive and change its default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe (when booting a modified modchip it usually searches for avalaunch.xbe, evoxdash.xbe) and a few other, but if you rename the default.xbe file to one of the files the console searches for on boot you will have replaced the dashboard with a game, the dashboard is just a piece of software that acts like a menu, it is not even required to play burned backups. sorry for the long long explanation -zenofex-

Okay so I have an xbox from when they first came out and it sucks now. It always has trouble reading the disk and if I pause it for more that a few minutes then it freezes and when I play GR2 and it starts to get into some intense shooting, it will freeze up temporarily on me and it will make a god awful sound. Can that be fixed? Also, I want to make sure I understand this correctly, you can actually put games on the xbox without having to put the cd in again. In other words. I could go rent a game or borrow it, save it to my hard drive and play it when ever I want to?

I have an XBox that is just a couple of months old. It was the one that came with a football game and a tennis game (neither of which I wanted).
Is this one too new to mod?

hey alex, you can mod any xbox now, but it really difficult to mod newer xboxe's, more of a chance it'll mess up for some reason!

To figure out what version of xbox you have you can go to http://www.xbox-linux.org/Xbox_Versions_HOWTO and follow the steps. if you have anything below a 1.6 i can mod your xbox without a modchip required, if you have a 1.6, then you'll have to purchase a modchip and have it installed to mod your xbox. After either senario you can purchase a hard drive and have it installed and be able to backup as many of your games as youd like, and then you never have to worry about long loading screens or messing up those crappy cd's again :D . thanks zenofex[/u]

Would this work on an xbox360?
Zenofex
Fri, 23rd Feb 2007, 06:21 PM
xbox 360 has a different method of backing up your games which involves flashing the firmware on the drive with a "special firmware" that makes the 360 think theres a legit disc in the drive instead of a copy. I can do it for anyone on here for some LR, Fish, or Frags. But in order to burn the games at the moment you'll need DL discs as well as a DL burner. BTW, this method is XBOX LIVE COMPATIBLE!

Hey thats cool, Im probably asking a dumb question but what is a DL disc and burner? So would it work just like putting a game in saving it and never have to use the disc again? How much does this cost? I have An Australian Lunare Wrass, pretty guy really healthy about 7 inches long and lets say a 3-4inch waiste line and some zoa frags

Heres some info about DVD+R DL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD%2BR_DL
And the burner is just a DVD DL disc writer used to create discs with the correct capacity to hold the games.
The discs cost about 1-2 dollars a piece and the burner costs about 50-60 bucks, i reccomend the pioneer 111d because its the easiest of its kind to use and does auto booktype ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_type ).
Heres also a digg article on how to copy xbox360 games, the process is kind of complicated but the outcome is glorious!

A friend of mine did an upgrade to his modded box that allows the Xbox to play 360 games. I'd like to mod my green Halo edition Xbox to play 360 formats as it seems harder and harder to find new games for the Xbox.

I did the flash upgrade to my 360 and the backups run great. Making the backups is a pain. The 360 disc drive has to be connected to your computer sata input and all the info dumped onto your comp. You can make a hole in the back of your xbox to make plugging/unplugging the wires easier.
