I have seen a couple of inwall build threads on other sites and was wondering if anyone has ever done it on MAAST or would people be interested in seeing one?
Please advise, it would be trouble, but doable.
I have digital camera handy and could just take pics and narrate as changes occur.
Depressing news today, my 215 RR wont be here till the 22nd. Oceanic is till working on it.
The room is coming together well and parts are coming in daily.
Dan is starting on the Sump and Fuge on Monday. CAN'T WAIT!!

Sure, go ahead, everyone's projects are different and it's always neat to see how people put their setups together. I started and inwall tank thread for my 240g, but I haven't progressed much in awhile. I need to work on my motivation! lol

Mike, I've finished the wall and the paint is most of the way done. I just need to set the tank in place then I'll post more pics in my thread.http://www.maast.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=8221

Mike, it would be neat to watch your progress, but (speaking from experience) you will find yourself working until 1:00am on Saturday and then feeling guilty if you don't take some pictures & post on MAAST :-D
It will be fun to watch!
Post a Pic of that skimmer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike bought the same skimmer I have, but with TWO closed loop pumps - he has enough skimmer power for everyone on MAAST :-D

I have a question. If my wall isnt a load bearing wall, can i just start cutting through the 2x4s without bracing?

Look at the structure of the house and ask the following questions:
Is there a significant load above, such a built-up (multi-board) carrying beam or another wall? Is there a full floor above it, or just an empty attic?
If you can view the joists in the attic, is the wall parallel or perpendicular to them? Generally, load bearing walls are perpendicular to the joists they support. If two separate floor joists or ceiling joists intersect over a wall, that wall should be considered load bearing.
Is it an outside wall? You should consider all outside walls load bearing. If the house has been remodeled, a former outside wall could now be an inside wall. Examine the foundation to find these "stealth" outside walls.

If you really don't know what your doing, better to swallow your pride and a home inspector could answer you questions on load walls. Then you can build away and sleep great every night !

Sure,
It would be great to see what you are building. That is one of the cornerstones of the club I believe. Giving and Getting Ideas helps all of reef fanatics out. Thinking of more and better ways of dumping our time ,money, and inovation into our tanks. Lets see what you have. You can always check out my gallery and see my inwall setup. I converted my 70's style wetbar into my inwall setup.
