I'll add whatever copper plumbing I need to make. That choice isn't in the radios. I prefer half inch copper out to a valve. Valve thread out is at my option on a size that works to connect. Don't the units come with a couple of adapters?

Alexwolf,
The hose bib could be use with your garden hose. What is cool about is that it is made out plastic.

The hosebib screws on the same kind of thread as you would screw on a garden hose to or washing machine connection.
It will not attach to the shower head thread. Wrong size.

Roy,
according to the Tim's message above. Just post it here what you want. The 5 stage 100gpd unit is $135.00 and the inline TDS $ 25.00.
That's all I remember. If you need anything else you better send Tim a pm and ask him.
I hope this helps :D :D :D !!!!

I was still trying to figure a convinient way to bring the water into the house's plumbing system so I asked him about connecting it to the water heater. Any feed back on this?

Instar, my local guy here, San Angelo, that I talked to said I wouldn't want to run RO through any copper.
Texasranchers - you won't be running the RO through any copper. The lines that come out of the RO unit are plastic. It doesn't matter where the incoming line comes from as it can come off any kind of household or commercial plumbing lines that already exist; coppper, galvanized, pvc or plastic. The RO unit will remove all the water source chemicals including the miniscule amount of ions you would get from the house or barn plumbing. The only considerations for incoming lines are the fitting/thread size and the water pressure. It should be at normal home tap supply pressure, normal home plumbing of any kind (even copper), not a boosted high pressure line that doesn't have a flow meter and valve (incase you have a commercial hookup of some kind that I've never heard of like irrigation). After the water comes out of the unit, it should only hit its own plastic delivery lines, your aquarium equipment and if you plumb something after the unit, then only pvc, plastic lines, etc. The connection I referred to is the incoming line and I use all copper in my house. If I move the unit later to an out-building, then it will probably be pvc there. So, your plumber is right, the RO doesn't go through the copper but you don't have him plumb anything for that anyway, are you? Like moving the water from the location of the unit to some other location for use? If so, that needs to be an inert plastic of some kind, like clear hose or pvc.

Also, connecting to the water heater is a really bad idea. The pipes get hot near the heater and that means hot water is going to go through the filters and membrane. That is extremely likely to be outside the operating temperature of the membrane and may destroy it. Stay away from the heater far enough to bring in cold water for sure.

Do you think I would get any added benefit in plumbing this in before the system? It's a monster sediment/carbon filter (much larger than the filter canisters on my current RO system, note the mint at the bottom for reference in size.
http://www.maast.org/albums/Ram_Puppy/DSCN0638.sized.jpg
oh, and does this come with a storage tank? my current tank has a 3 gallon reserve tank. I am currently using a sink adapter, so that is what I would like with mine, though if I plumb that monster in, it may be a different story.

hmm.. I might be cannibalizing my current system for parts... need to keep the Storage Tank, probably want to keep the drinking water dispinser and plumb in a T and put in a 'taste and oder' cartridge right before the dispenser since I hear DI water tastes very odd. There are some other interesting goodies I saw at www.airwaterice.com that I might invest in too, a backwash valve that helps you manually clean the membrane (by passes flow restricter) and a Float switch are among two...
You guys think I should yank the UV stage off my current system and plumb it into this one? I am thinking waste of time since My water sits in a trashcan at least a week before i use it, plenty is getting back in.
They also have booster pumps and other goodies there, and i found a 20 gallon storage tank for 149 at another site.. though, not sure what it would be like with shipping... I may just sell this one off intact and re-buy everything new.
decisions decisions... :)

here are a few items you guys might want to consider:
For Those concerned with waste water:
http://www.airwaterice.com/product/PPP
For those that have a well that may not provide adequate or constant pressure:
http://www.airwaterice.com/product/PBP8800
This site seems to have reasonable high quality storage tanks:
http://www.waterfiltersonline.com/tanks.asp
I haven't found a good float switch yet (that is pressure driven, not using electricity/probe/solenoid) the one sold at airwaterice and other ro sites seems to have metal construction, not something I would want in my sump, the only other one i have found is a kent product, which says it is not suitable for 100 GPD units.

yes, but they are more expensive.
Airwaterice Permeate Pump -$69.00
AquaFX price Permeate Pump -$89.00
Float Switches - both sites 19.00 offering is most likely not useable, looks like metal construction.
This is the kicker:
Storage Tanks (total tank volume 20 Gallon 14/15 gallons at 40PSI)
Waterfiltersonline price for Amtrol ® RO Mate 14 RO Replacement Tank -$125.00
AquaFX of same specifications (identical pictures, same height and diameter) -$243
the next highest tanks up which differ only by 2 gallons (20 and 22 gallons total volume), are respectively, $249 @ Waterfiltersonline, and $438 @ aqua FX.

First of all they are one of our sponsors. They paid their dues to be in our website. The two companies you are talking about have not. Also do not forget that DUES paid by our sponsor help our club out. :-D :-D
Of course you can find cheaper prices of anything on the Web. AquaFx is not in the business to sell every single item in their inventory separate. They are in the business to sell complete systems to the customers need.
Check this out. I bought saltwater seals for my new big (no company name, to protect the innocent) pump. The manufacture wanted $ 58.00 for the saltwater seals. I made several calls later and found out that the saltwater seals are really $28.00
Called back and spoke with a technician and asked him why the price was so different and he answered me. “We are not in the business to sell saltwater seals we are in the business to sell water pumps with the seals in it. If a customer wants the saltwater seals we will sell the seals to them but it is going to cost them more”. The company does not want people to get into the habit of buying the water pump cheaper some where else and then buying the saltwater seals from the them (the manufacture) and then putting the whole thing together at a cheaper price. That will hurt their local distributors, which are selling the same pump at a higher price (Any where from $350 to $499) Why pay those prices when you can buy the same pump for $149(in another website) and the seals for $28.00. Total cost of the pump doing it your self $ 177.00
Do you get the picture? :) :) :) :) :)
Let me ask you this.
Do you need a permeate pump?
Do you need a Float Switch?
Do you need a storage tank?
If your answer is “no”, then don’t worry about it. If you do need any of these items, do not buy directly from AquaFx. Check with Tim the local rep and distributor. I’ll bet he can get you the same price or cheaper for the same items. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
I'll bet AquaFx will do anything to accommodate any of our club members and to make sure that we are 100% satisfied with anything we buy from them.
They have done it for me and I cannot complain. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Thanks
Tim Marvin

I'll do the Permeate pump $70 no shipping if you buy it now with this order.
Airwaterice has no shop, the guy builds the units out of his garage so no overhead or time to sit and talk with our members all day long if needed.
AquaFX is a sponsor here, has a tech support number: Support: 407-599-2123 or
877-256-3467, you have to compare apples to apples. Put a whole unit together on paper from Airwater ice, and see how much less you are getting this unit from our sponsor. It looks like the closest unit to compare would be $199 from Airwaterice. AquaFX unit also comes with aluminum brackets rather than steel so no rust. AquaFX comes with the pressure gauge, all these little things add up. I have a Kent Hi-S, airwaterice, and this AquaFX unit. The AquaFX unit is by far superior, which is why I decided to pick them up in our product line. IMO the support is worth a lot! Do we go with the cheapest lights we can find? Cheapest pumps? No matter what we buy, you will always find someone, some place willing to cut the other guys throat to sell to you. It's sales, you give one item away in hopes that you'll get a return customer, and make up for it a little here and there on other items. Look for companies that will provide exceptional service and support. In fact one of our members just had a tank blow out recently and has to get a lawyer to try to receive compensation from the company. If he had bought Oceanic this may have never become an issue, (I'm just making a point). By the way, this post is directed at the audience not RamPuppy.

Ok Hold on a second I feeel like I ruffled some feathers here. First off, when I started researching this more heavily tonight, I skimmed through this thread and I couldn't find the companies name Tim was ordering from anywhere, nor could I find out what each stage was. In my ignorance before, I assumed it came with a storage tank (like the one i have now, and have sold so I can buy a this superior unit). So naturally, wondering what else I missed I tried to find out more about what I had purchased. I started doing multiple searches and found many RO units called Barracuda, I eventually gave up and remembered someone on this site had reccomended airwaterice at one point and checked out their site, I never had any intention of taking business away from Tim, I didn't even realize he was a distributor for this company and that they were a sponsor. I found the AquaFX site about 5 minutes after i posted the links up there, and recognized the picture, when mike posted, I naturally compared prices.
Taking all that in mind, I was trying to be helpful, not a cheapskate trying to undercut a man I have a tremendous amount of respect for. If Tim tells me the AquaFX is a superior product, Then I believe him flat out. Now that I know he is the distributor, and that they are a sponsor, I know I can go to him with more questions. I don't know, maybe I am a bit punchy, with the exception of two brief hours of sleep I have been awake since 9AM Sunday Morning. :| <Look at me being over sensetive>
What I will probably end up doing, much to my wifes displeasure, is instead of selling the old unit, canibalize what i want to keep out of it and plumb the two systems together.. heh.. I am allready working on a 7 stage with those massive pre-filters, throw in the UV sterilizer my current unit has plus the taste and oder cartridge, im looking at 8 stages. I probably will need the permeate pump and a booster by the time it is all over.
Tim, I am sorry I didn't have the full picture and was just trying to be helpful. I still want the unit, the fact that you are offering a great value on the unit was never in question, and even if it may not seem that way, I truly appreciate it.
now... having just gotten home from a really boring 15 hours at work, I should try to go get some sleep.

I was not directing the response to you Ram. I am not trying to get everyones business either just offering a great unit. When I think of holding tank, I am always thinking of large tanks like 50 gallons. I never think about the little drinking water tanks. The large tanks can be bought locally for probably a lot less and no shipping. Most people need a specific size to fit a certain spot and it is usually easier to check HomeDepot, container store, and places like that if you need a particular size and shape.

I don't think it is a very good idea to post your phone number on a public forum. People could use that and find out your address and theives abound these days. You might want to PM your number to Tim and edit your post and remove the phone number. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have never had a problem with this. After being in my profession for so many years my numbers and email addresses are in ads all the time. My address had to be public knowledge in order to have my license.
I have found that when a group order is on the count down minutes, the person who is getting or giving last minute details doesn't have time to read PMs. They usually need info now.

im late to this thread, whats going on? Ordering ro units, because i need one. Im tired of going to aquatec everyother day and buying ro water
Dan,
You better send Tim Marvin a pm or something on this deal. He is the one coordinating this group buy and the order went out already. I am pretty sure he can squeeze you in with a 5 stage 100 GPD and in line TDS for $160.00.
But you better hurry
I know what you mean about Aquatek. I used to go every month and get around 60 - 5 gallon bottles @ $ 0.20 a gallons back a year ago. It maybe more know, I think it is $ 0.25. You know what the sad part is, since I was buying so much water at one time, they used to turn me away, saying that they did not have enough water for me right now.
Now forget it. Now I have my own RO/DI 5 stage unit 100 GPD with in line TDS meter. I get my RO/DI water when I want to and at anytime I want to. I bought one of the same units been offered in the group buy. I bought mine while back and I love it. Saved my back and gas money. No more driving from Pflugerville to Aquatek and back to Pflugerville :-D :-D :-D
This is a great price for the unit. Do not miss out, or you are going to be sorry you did.
My .02 cents ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Thanks

man.. just in time too... I spent last night cleaning up under my sink. around 5:00 I had wiped some water of fthe floor, thought maybe the dog had spilled some out of his bowl or something, came back a few hours later, and there were gallons of water all over the place, open up the sink, and I can see a busted hose (the final line to the dispenser) spraying water all over the inside of my sink... I started pulling stuff out, the bascade box fell apart, and a mess birthed a bigger mess. I just disconnected the whole thing and am waiting for the new unit. I'm just going to canabalize the parts of this one and have some fun.

HEy all, wanted to pipe in. I just finished installing my unit, I canibalized a quick connect off my old system to get it up an drunning for now. I made some changes to the system:
1) Plumbed in those monster 10" diameter sediment and carbon block filters before the RO/DI unit. It was fun, neither home depot nor lowes had all the right parts, so I ended up making some of my own hoses. :) learning experience.
2) After the RO membrane I added the UV unit off my old system
3) after the UV unit is a T, one lead goes off to the drinking water filter, the 3 gallon RO storage tank, and the drinking water spigot. The other lead goes to the DI unit.
4) I ditched the blue hose that came with it for your 'product' dispensement, and bouth 50' of icemaker line so I can just go over and top the tank off with the hose, or go outside and water my carnivorous plants this summer with no filling of buckets (and the subsequent complaints of rain in the apartment below me. :) )
the TDS meter is plugged in right after the UV, and right after the DI, so I can measure product off of each filter and know when they are going bad. I ran tap water for an hour last night, filled up several glasses and measured the TDS in each glass, then averaged it all out. My Tap Water averages at 580 TDS, the highest it went was 702. I also tested water coming out of the large sediment and and carbon blocks, they take the tds down to about 20. Water coming out of the RO is about 4, and water coming out of the DI is 0.
I am happy. :)

Tim, I must have missed the posts about waste water. I fit the 55 drum into my space, but to fit anythng larger in there for the waste is impossible. Although there are a lot of uses for the waste water, how much per month has your waterbill gone up to adjust for this? Or anyone's?
I have a tee on my washer connection, so when I get my 55gl drum full, I want to turn off the main water valve w/o hurting my unit. Is this possible? TR, Shirley

Yes, you can turn off the main supply before the unit with no problem as far as I know. Marianne would be happy to answer all your questions at aquaFX also. They are the experts at water filters.

The reason no one replied to you is because Mary Ann is a @#$%%% theif!!! That procrastinates and will not return phone calls, emails concerning her crappy product that breaks and are engineered incorrectly. Thanks for your input Kim, I have not found this to be true....Cussing does not get your point across very well, can you be more specific, or is this your first and last post to the board? You cannot make everyone happy in business, someone will always feel ripped off. P.M. me your problem and I will be sure to communicate with AquaFX to see what both sides of the story are and perhaps there may be a solution.

Kim,
Are you in Central Texas? How come we have never heard from you before? How come you are waiting till right now to said some B#$# S%#$# like this?
Thrashing vendor or individuals publicly on this or any board is not the way to go.
How about if I Trash you publicly, right now on this board. Would you like that?
If you continue to have problems, keep calling them or send them and e-mail at info@aquariumwaterfilters.com or Marianne@aquee.com
Every time I call, there is always someone to answer unless they’re busy. It is a business you know. I just call over at 7:15 am today someone answered the phone.
So do not be a J%$# and try to reach the vendor, I am pretty sure you are not trying hard enough.
My $0.02
Thanks
You can pm if you want.

Tim, Carlos, Sorry I even mentioned it. When I was having questions to Tim, he suggested that I contact Aqua FX. My post was just a follow up.
KIM, as for you. I don't appreciate you using my post to 'get back' at someone. If I had as many problems with a company as you seem to have had, I would resort to other more meaningful ways to contact a person or business. Registered letters with your concerns stated plainly in the correspondance. Saved emails that you have sent and records showing your attempted calls. Please don't connect your unhappy post with my posts.
Sorry for any inconvenience or embarrassment this may have caused.
