just wanted to let you all know I got an e-mail and apparently clams direct is about to re-open their online store with tons of new stock.
here is the e-mail:
We have been on a short and much needed vacation and now we are re-stocking our inventory.
We have some awesome T. crocea, T. squamosa, T. derasa. T.gigas and some H.hippopus in stock at this time and more coming in soon. We will be adding some new SPS and ricordea as well. We hope to have most of the pictures loaded by today, but Friday for sure. Sorry for the delay.
Have a great Thanksgiving.

I'm looking for prices but I don't see any. Am I looking in the wrong place or is the site still not current?
Is it less expensive to buy them online or to go to a shop like Fin Addicts to get a nice clam?

jrhein - last time i checked the pushed the posting of new livestock until the 25th. They will post prices next to each individual item. The cost is affected by shipping, but you can usually find much nicer clams there if you get into the site soon after they post. The nice ones sell fast.

The problem with doing a group order from someone like Clams Direct is that the available inventory is always changing. By the time everyone decides what they want and the order is organized, a good percentage of what is wanted is already gone.
Maybe we could work something out for us. They have worked with us before. It might be easier to just get an order from them for a meeting.
The other option is to just get everyone together at someone's house and just look on the puter and place the order at one time. Of course it might be easier to do a seperate Austin and SA order that way.

Well he has some nice stuff but the only two clams I wanted have already been sold :(
Yep, Pete, that's the one I wanted. If someone here bought him I will pay you nicely just for the rights to him.

Yea, me too. Gary's right, as soon as we all decide what we want, all the ones we want will be gone. I am going to pass on this order.

The only purpose on a group order from them is to maybe save on shipping costs. It has been done before, someone just has to let Barry at CD know ahead of time and he will hold all the clams up to a certain time and then ship them all together to the one person. If you are in the group, you just have to put a note on your order comments that you are part of the group. He keeps them marked so there is no confusion over which clam is which.
As mentioned, the biggest problem is just being there as soon as their online store opens so you get a better chance at finding a clam you like. If someone were to just blindly order a large number of clams for a club meeting, this would be expensive and there is no guarantee that the clams would be quality ones that people will buy. Someone could get stuck with a bunch of clams and an empty pocketbook.

Do they all arrive in their own package? I mean, if we were to all order say 20 clams, how would we know who's was who's? A lot of them look similar and aren't they pretty much closed up? Just wondering.

I never did a group order, but Im sure barry would mark the bags with the numbers from the site.

Jenn - They come in individual bags and they are marked with their corresponding numbers. If Barry knows ahead of time, he will make sure things are kept separated.

Ok, knowing that is how its done, I WILL join in if this turns into a group order. Who is going to contact Barry?

well, I personally want a purple maxima, so I am holding off until his next order, but maybe we should pick a person to communicate with barry, and organize a post christmas order when all our pockets should be ostensibly, overflowing with christmas gift cash. (I raked in 350 last year! :) )
