I have been asked what I want for Christmas, my answer, is A refractometer... which one do I want though?

I know I want one with a built in light, but I am wondering if there are some brands that are better than others? any other specific features I should shop for?

I bought mine from Premium Aquatics for like $50 on sale. It was the top of the line one they had.

That looks just like the one I have. It works great! It looks like right around $50 with the shipping, sounds right!

MikeDel...LMAO... That IS the one I bought. Looks like the same unit to me. I have lights built into my house so I didn't need to use the meter in the dark with a built in light...LOL

Mine does not have a light either...but it works great with the tanks lights in the backround. IMO the lighted one are unnecessary

Thanks for the input guys, I have passed on all your links and reccomnedations to my family! :)

Also requested was a Phosban Reactor (and media)
Salifert Test Kits (CB pets carries the full line now)
and a geforce 6800... but I doubt I will convince anyone to spend 480$ on me... :( so that probably won't happen.

Not positive but I believe poth refratometers in both of those links are the same one. By the way, great price on that one cbazhaw linked to. I have the same one and it works great, just check it under a light and your readings are very simple and it is ATC.

I just dip my finger into the tank and lick it off to determine salinity.
