I am looking ahead to the day that the new house is done being built. Then I can plan my reef tank! (should be done Feb.) But a project I am thinking about is a way to do a water change---about 600 gallons at once. I plan on having a LARGE tank. This project of a 600 gallon water changer machine came to life the other day. So I placed a bid on it!!!!
Wish me luck!

If you figure a 10 - 20% water change a month, I estimate the tank to be around 6,000 - 12,000 gallons. Is that gonna fit on the 20' wall??? lol Crazy mo-fo....

That is just about large enough to measure a tidal change from one side to the other isn't it?
Out here in the country we call that a lake. House built around a lake... nice. Put me on the guest list please.

Jim,
Just wait until hurricane season, you'll get a really good water change done for you automatically. Just check the salinity before opening the front door.

I will post pictures of the unit tonight! The out let hose is about 4 1/2 inches. I estimate I can do a 600 gallon water change in about 10 minutes.

It doesn't, this truck pulls water from the ocean and pumps it straight into the 6,000 gallon SW pond...

I see a group order coming - "Jim's All Natural SC Reef Water!", and he can pile some Southdown sand on top of the truck ;)
How do you plan to glass line the tank?
If nothing else, this group is Gullible!

Nice job of leaving us twisting in the wind waiting for the punch line Jim. All you would have to do is go suck 600 gal. out of the ocean and squirt it into your tank.

You could always set up a new business. Jim's water change company.
Let's see... average water change 20 gals. 30 water changes per day.
If you charges $1/gal. that would $600 per load. You could pay for that fire engine in nothing flat. I'm sure you know where you could get all the water you need, that big salty spot out your front door.
