My chiller arrived last night and will be installed this weekend. Here are the stats on this beast:
Model AWC-100B - Victor's Aquarium Chillers
1 Horse Power
Cooling Capacity 11,935 BTUH
Refrigerant - R22
Voltage - 230
Ampere - 5.7 Now that is low - nobody else comes close to this while providing 11,935 BTUH cooling capacity
Size (inch) - 23x22x15.5
Compressor Mfg. - Hitachi
Flow(GPM) - 20 to 35
10 Degree Tank (Gallon) - 1200
30 Degree Tank (Gallon) - 750

I know this is way over kill for my system but this is why I did it so you do not ask. I only need a 1/2 HP and a 2/3 HP to allow me to expand so this is based on going from a 2/3 HP to a 1 HP
1. Cost - the unit cost me 80 dollars more than the price I was quoted on the 2/3 HP. The 2/3 HP runs on a 110V @ 9A. The 1 HP runs on 230V @ 7A. So it runs 2A less and it will run for alot less time than the 2/3 HP would. I will make up the extra 80 dollars I spent in no time.
2. It allows me to upgrade to anything I want.
3. It is just too freaking cool not to get it.

Here is a pic

Actually with 4 - 400 HQI and VHO's running I need it now and through the winter. I keep the room at 60 and the temp still gets up to 83 plus. This is going to save me big cash not having to run my window unit in the fish room at full speed all day long.

60? Good grief man, you must need a blanket when you are watching your fish lol

yes, outside. I will knock one brick out for the flex hoses and the plug and fill with an insulator around to keep the bugs from getting in. Should be pretty easy. Building the dog house for it will take the longest.

That is definately a beast! I'll be interested to se how it works? So far, my 700g system is hanging in at around 82-83 DegF with everything running full blast, and I don't have my 1/3 HP chiller connected to it yet ... so I am thinking I will be OK with a little mor evaporative cooling yet to add (fingers crossed)!

lol
It is only set at 60 in the 14' x 8' fish room where the tank is, not the viewing room. I have tried to set it higher or to only run it some during the day but the temp skyrockets.

This is the same victor that made Blake's chiller. He has just made it less industrial looking now.

Good luck. I do not know much about chillers at all but I do not think a 700 gallon system will get pulled down much by a 1/3 HP.

I will tell you when you come over and see what I need for my splash guards. LOL. The prices for all the models are on ebay. He came off 13% of the marked price.

I absolutely agree! A beast like yours may be in my future, but first going to go the route of evaporative cooling and alternating photoperiods, with the 13HP installed to "Take the edge off".

Let me know how the beast works? So, how much was the advertised price?

that has all the prices for all the sizes

WOW :o that ain't cheap!

BTW: Watts = Volts * Amps

2/3HP: 110V * 9A = 990W
1HP: 220V * 7A = 1540W

The 1HP will most likely run less, but your overall operating cost will likely be the same. The same amount of energy is required to pull the energy (Heat) out of the water regardless of how fast it is removed.

The 1HP will definately have a lower duty cycle, so it will last longer and provide the savings in the long run.

... Nice piece of equipment!
