I have a Sebae Anemone that has grown rather large. It takes up nearly a thrid of my 37 gallon cube. I would like for it to split so I can get a rid of half of it. Is there a safe way of helping the process? I really don't want to kill it, since my 3 clowns live in it. I had this anemone for over a year now and it's come a long way from the 3" bright yellow dyed thing that I bought.

anthony calfo says he has razored a rose anemone just like he would a mushroom coral... I however, would be a bit ummm queasy at the process... just the thought of it gives me shivers.

I have heard that they will split following: feeding it every day for a week, a massive water change (50%)
here is a very helpful link http://www.carlosreef.com/AnemoneFAQ.pdf

My long tentacles always split when I moved my tanks. The big water change is what does the trick. I'm down to one now and I'm feeding it heavily, trying to get it to split before it stings anymore of my corals. When I bought the tank it had 3 anemones in it, within a few days of the move I had 9. Long tentacles usually split 3:1. I moved my tanks a few times after that and they always split. You might try putting it in an ice chest and driving around with it for a few days. JUST KIDDING!
That's why a lot of the anemones you see in LFS are sao small. During all the transhipments they react to the stress by splitting. Its a survival mechanism common to most anemones.
