I have been thinking about setting up another tank, and I would really like to have a yellow tang in it. I was thinking about either a 75 gal, 90 gal, or 100 gal. tank. It will be a fowlr (as I can't afford the lights at the moment). Some of the fish I want to have are:
1 yellow tang
2 false percs
1 royal gramma
1 coral beauty
I would like a butteryfly or 3 banggaii cardinals but I'm still thinking about these. My question is what kind of other fish would ya'll reccomend that would go well in a set up like this? (it will be fowlr for a while so if the fish isn't reef safe thats ok.)

I would recommend a species of Hawkfish or wrasse with that group. Hawkfish are reefsafe except for small shrimp/crabs and there is a good selection of reef safe wrasses as well. Also I would probably discourage any butterflyfish because of poor survival in aquariums and specialized diets.
What kind of lighting are you using right now? I started out with a 65 gallon tank with 4 normal output bulbs on shoplight ballasts. I was able to keep many soft corals (mushrooms, leathers, zoanthids) and a good selection of LPS (open brains, frogspwan etc) as well. I ran the same setup for ~ 2years when I finally upgraded to VHO lighting. High intensity lighting is required for some corals but there are many species that will do well under simple flourescent lights.

Fairy Wrasse = bangin looks, reefsafe, totally a winner. As far as wrasses go, that is.

I'm a big fan of foxfaces. They sure help keep good control of a lot of nuisance algaes, especially Bryopsis and bubble algae. They're hardy, good eaters and don't fight with other fish. On the downside they do have poisonous dorsal spines, similar to a catfish. I've never had a problem with that though. I have one in both of my larger tanks.

I have had a Yellow Tang, Flame Angel, Sebae Clown, and Royal Gramma together in a 75 gal Reef for a few years now. They do very well together. I have added a mandarin goby recently and am thinking of adding three green chromis damsels.

Other successful fish that I have kept with this trio has been a sixline wrasse, algae blenny, pajama cardinal and blackcap basslet.
