Anyone turn off their VHO when MH come on?

I was wondering if anyone turns off their VHO when the MH come on and then turn them on again when the MH go off.

This is my first tank with VHO and MH. I noticed that the VHO make little difference to the MH.... so I was thinking that my VHO would last longer if I turned them off for the 8 hours that the MH are on.

BTW... I have 2-140w Super Atinic VHO and 2-250w SE XM 10ks

The VHO's are supplementing the MH's. I run my VHO's 1hr prior, durning and 1hr after the MH's go out.

I run my T-5's 2 hours before/ during/ and 2 hours after. The halides are to simulate mid day sun and IMO you need all the lights on in the middle of your tanks light cycle.

At the moment I'm running 4-36" PCs. Two of which are Act03 and the othre two are 50/50. I run the Act03 1 hour before the 50/50 and then both for another hour before the MH. They stay on with the MH for eight hours and the shut down in reverse order.

I am running my lights pretty much like Tim. VHOs for 12 hours and MH for 8 hours.... so they come on 2 hours before and go off 2 hours after the MH.
