Hello, I wanted to see if I could get some input/direction for a 100g tank that is being set up. It is for our office and is kind of a group project for all 5 of us that work there, however, none of us know a lot about setting them up. We have an extra 55g tank avail. Can this be used as the sump, and if so, how would we do that? Any other suggestions about any part of the tank set up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The 55 could be used ... will it fit under the stand? If thats where you were going to put it. Are you looking at just a sump or a fuge too?

We already have a tank....it is not drilled. I am looking for a 100g to do the same with, for personal use. Does yours come with anything else?

I was just looking for a sump, would you recommend a fuge as well?

I love the refugiums...They keep your tank really stable.

I agree plus gives a safe place for critters to flourish.

A 55 gal. fuge is big enough to make into a combination fuge/sump. You just need to have some baffles put in for a skimmer and return pump. I think the only problem with that type of setup is that your flow rate through the refugium is going to be a little to fast. I'm sure there is a way to put in a bypass so that all the water won't be going through the fuge compartment.

How difficult of a project would that be?

Putting in baffles? Not much, just add some cut glass and silicone glue.

Where would I be able to find directions/guidance on doing this. Is there any set method of setting up the sump/fuge? or is it just by preferance...
