Are you sure they are not micro bubbles?

Do you have any idea where they are coming from? Coming from the return or just being blown around in tank by powerheads?

when i had the smaller sump, they were coming out of the returns. Now, it looks like they are just there. Unless the new pump is pumping them so fast I cant see them........

Alex,

I am trying to picture your set up in my head...where is the filter floss? Is it before going to your Fuge? How much flow do you have going thru the fuge? maybe its coming from there.

What about a "quickfilter" or some kind of pre-filter for your powerheads? That might help trap some of the particles. Unless you already are doing that :)

i had the same problem with my 375, what i did was constructed a box out of PVC and covered all but one side of it with the blue/white filter pads....then i put the side with no pad up to the intake that goes to the ampmaster...solved the particle problem...don't know if this can work for u, but maybe u could try this or modify it...then after a while just replace the filter pads when they get dirty...also i put slits in the PVC for water movement, even tho they were covered with pads, and i tied the pads to the pvc with fishing string and then cut the excess of....

Alex,

Do you remember how I had my return hoses flowing into poly filter socks? No particles in my tanks. On top of that it does a good job of helping to export nutrients.

The trick to using any physical filter media is to change them at least once a week. You don't want the organic material in them decaying and releasing waste products to the tank. That applies to the filter floss in wet dry's as well.

I just recycle my socks. I have 2 sets. I rinse them, soak them in bleach, rinse again, and hang them to dry.

GaryP, specifically which filter socks are you using?

Brett,

See my post above.

My wife made them for me.
