I saw that some of you put mussels in your tank for fish food. I purchased 3 live ones, and fresh water dipped em, scrubbed them, and dropped them in. What happens now?? How do the fish get them open? When do I pull them out?

Alex, you have to open them before you put them in the tank. Use a thin blade to slide between the shells and cut the muscle holding the shell closed. Plus rinse the insides really good with fresh water. The fish will tear into them as soon as you put them into the tank.

I didnt cut them before i dropped them in, but apparently they died last night. The fish were going bonkers eating. It was really cool to watch!!!

I hit them with a hammer then drop them in. The fish seem to like working at it to get the meat out. I get the shells out, I don't like the way they look. You could leave them in.
