Well, I'd understood red brittle stars to be less risky than greens for fish predation, but I think I have to rethink that. Deb found our large red brittle munching on our foxface this morning. He'd taken up residence in the same cave where the fox liked to sleep at night, and I think he just decided not to go out for breakfast. The foxface never showed any signs of illness or distress, so I don't think the brittle just happened upon a dead fish.
I'm doubly frustrated because that was the 2nd foxface I've lost. The first one just declined & died after a couple months in the tank. This one was healthy and seemed to be just fine when Deb looked at him last night.
That star will be up for trade in about 10 days when we're home from a couple business/vacation trips, I think. Anybody want a red brittle star with a rap sheet?
