I added a purple tang, and the 2 smaller yellows dont seem to like it much. The big one and the scopas dont mind. For a few days, the yellows kept the purple to a corner of the tank. Tonight, I saw the yellows actually biting the side of the purple, so I pulled him out. Any idea what I can do to help?

Alex,

Try this, it worked for me when I used to have those evil domino damsels.

One night about an hour before your main lights go off do a MAJOR re-arranging of your rocks. After you have disturbed all the favorite places for your fish then add the purple with the lights off, and hopefully the next day all of your fish will start establishing new territories and they will leave the purple alone. It seems that your yellows are just defending their territory.

I know that this might suck being that you probably just got your aquascaping just how you want it but this is what I had to do on a few occasions and it worked. If you really like the way you have your rocks then take a few close-up pictures of your tank and just wait a few weeks and put them back again. :-D

Hope this helps!!

ya thats what happens when you only put one tang in at a time. it might help if you can take the yellow out for a day or so. i tried to add a small yellow in one time and the yellow that was allready in the tank just tore him a new one. i took the little guy out and went and bought two big yellows than put all three in at one time. never had a problem after that. so now i have four yellows, one hippo, one purple and a huge powder blue. i'm now looking for a clown tang.

Do you think 1 more is OK? Or do I have to add 2 more?

as long as you add 2 at the same time i think it should be okay,

I added both to the tank. One took for the rocks, and the other got beat up. I turned out the lights, so I hope something changes in the morning. I had to pull out one yellow tang that was quite the bully. If this doesnt work, shouldI rearange the rocks?

Re-arranging the rocks sounds like your best bet. I think those pink rics are making the yellow tangs angry, I'll take 'em off your hands if I have to. LOL

call me before. The tangs seem to be tolerant of each other this morning. The yellows are putting up with the purples, but still chasing them around now and then.
