Just wanted to say hi to everybody. My name is Jacob. I was recommended this site by the nice folks at Fin Addict.

A little background:
I am located in SA, just moved here from Austin. I don't have an extensive background in reefs, but do have a background in freshwater... a minimal background. Nonetheless, I have a lot of time on my hands and I want to get one up and running for the new apartment.

My problem is that I don't know how much I need to start with. I am looking at the following tank:

Click me (http://www.all-glass.com/products/aquariums/index.html)

Petsmart had a good price on it and I have yet to see it cheaper.

I was also wondering if it wouldn't be too much trouble to ask for someone to maybe post a quick rundown, cost wise, for a ~60 gallon tank with a reef and a few fishies as well. Tank not needed though.

I am going to pick up Michael Palettas The New Aquarium tomorrow that Fin Addict recommended. But I don't want to get myself too involved if its going to cost an arm and a leg. I'm looking to spend about $6-800, is that a good figure? I just want to get an idea. I hope you all understand.

Thanks.

Jacob, welcome to MAAST. Your figure is about right for a pretty nice set-up. Invest most of the money in lighting and flow. You can get lots of equipment and livestock right here on MAAST. Our sponsers will give discounts on everything they carry if your a member.
