After 6hrs packing up the tank and a total of 24hrs to get back from NC and @ 3 to unpack the corals, clam and even the blue linckia ect. I lost one fish (black cap), but found my clown goby that has been missing for 4 months. Also one RBTA (singed by the stuffing in the hot pack)and 2 frags ... maybe?

Very Happy ... now just need to set up the viewing tank !!!

Glad to hear your tank move was so successful! Looks like it was a long day based on the time of your post

So give us the blow by blow details of how you breakdown & transport a ??? gal tank across country? How much existing water did you move?

Thanks ... long day? I havent slept in two days :o .

It was a 100gal and I basically packed all corals (now fragged) as if they were being shipped. They were doubled bagged with air added and placed in insulated boxes with heat packs. The fish, star, shrimps and cuke all went into an insulated pail with a battery operated airstone. I kept the 30gal fuge full and added an airstone to it which kept the bugs alive as well as the the cheato, well it would survive the US mail. The sand and snails were kept in 3 inches of water in the tank using another airstone and the rock placed in a garbage can also with an airstone. I also made fresh RO/DI (30gal) before I left to give me a head start when I got home.

I even packed mini stars and worms ... 50 or so ea.

I will now get the 100 set up temporairly as I build in the garage for the "IN WALL" (180gal) and grow out tanks.

Pete,

You did a lot better than I did when I moved back from the Carolina's. Of course your wife probably didn't put a Rio 2500 into an ice chest full of SPS. When I reached in to grab one it was like bath water.
