It looks like an encusting montipora, but there are acro's with that same color pattern. I have one, so does Tim Marvin. Without the proper lighting they shift color a lot though...

That sure is cool. So is this the purple monster?

My best color came under a 150w Iwasaki 50,000K.
The 400w Radium bulb (20,000K) produced a decent color as well..

If you look at that URL, they don't look like they are using a bulb with that high of a K rating. Knowing Garf, its proble VHO also :)

I *believe* that it can be done, but I have yet to see someone do it with that lighting.

However, I will say that I recently put all of my SPS under T5/T8/T12/PC lighting and they are coloring up nicely. No picture yet though...

I am not sure what a purple monster looks like honestly.

That is a purple monster I have a few of them and have sold a few frags to club members in the past. They color best with the actinics. I'd bet you could grow it great under one 10k and 3 super actinics.

Look at picture DSCN0186.

That is the monster under 250w DE halides and 4 actinics. I also have one that looks almost black with neon green polyps. I'll try to get a good picture of that one later.

Most of garf's sps tanks are 55 gallon with six vho bulbs, 3 actinic, and 3 50/50, uri.

I have been growing sps w/96 watt pcs for the last 10 months 2-10k, and2-actinic, and have had decent growth and color.

Cool, I'd like to see pictures some time.
I'm just now trying the non-MH route myself for the first time and am happy with the results thusfar (only 3 week though).
