Help ~ skimmer/anemone/stand

Hi everyone ~ As some of you who know me already I am very new here to MAAST and to this hobby. Thanks to a bunch of you guys you've helped me in the right direction and off to a great start.... ;) I need some help / advice on a couple of things:

1. I just bought a Prizim skimmer and the instructions that came with it are not that great. I am confused with the "flow" thing. How open should it be set at? It's been running for 3 days and has yet to produce anything. I have tried adjusting it but if its to open there's to many air bubbles.

2. I bought an anemone a week ago ~white/purple tips~ condylactus I think ~ it was doing fine up until yesterday. It's turning a light beige in color and this am it was shriveled up... Is that bad for my tank? Should I take it out? What do I do?

3. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good woodworker/carpenter that can build me a stand for my 75gallon and a canopy for my 29gallon.

1. The skimmer might need a couple more days to weeks to get broken in, i dont knwo about everyone else but i ussually let it full throttle, you might try a sponge to get rid of the bubbles.
2. Dont take it out, give it couple more days, still might be adjusting to your light schedule, etc. How did you acclimate it?

I know a great woodworker, my moms b/f. He custom builds canopy's and stands. Very reasonably priced, and lives near me by babcock and prue.

christerrell2k3 ~ I acclimated it by temp/salinity and in a seperate container for a while before putting it in. Today it seems to be somewhat back to normal except for some of the tips they are still a little beige in color and one tip even looks twisted & "broken" if that makes sense..... :? Being a newbie myself I agree with you. The people here are great and very helpful. I know I have PM'd a bunch of you all before with my many, MANY "questions" :roll: but they are neverending....

Well, welcome to MAAST..alot of us here believe the prizm is a REALLY bad skimmer that only pulls out clean salt water and produces bubbles, the delux version is even worse...about the anemone, they need a more stablished tank rather than a new , sterile one..and about the canopy, i bought one at aquatic warehouse for a really good rpice, the guys there might make you a good deal..

yeah, the tips are crazy, i got a couple tips that have 2 or 3 branches off of them ands they looked swirled but its all good, beige is not a bad sign though, there usually stained a color somehow that will eventually fade into beige... depending if its a atlantic type and so on...
