View Full Version : Southdown Sand, $12.50 per bag
Hammer
Tue, 28th Sep 2004, 11:42 PM
I will be getting in FOUR pallets of southdown.
It will be the Yardright Tropical Play Sand.
Each bag will weigh 40 lbs.
Each bag will cost $12.50 per bag.
I will have all of the sand at my house in Leander for you to pick up.
I will also have one pallet at TurboBrett's house (near I-35 and William Cannon). So everyone coming up to Austin can get the first pallet from him. All payments for bags from Brett will be directed towards him.
I will update here as soon as I can put a date on when I will have the shipment in and ready for people to pickup.
Thanks to Mike (Hobbietyme), aka Mr. Sandman for helping us on the sand, and RobertG for helping me with the contacts.
Post the number of bags you want here please so I can keep track of who wants what.
No prepayments. I will take cash when you come pickup the sand, or you can paypal me before you come pick it up (contact me first if your using a CC through paypal please).
Sand should be available for pickup as early as late Sunday.

For those that aren't familiar, Southdown and Yardright (which is what we are getting) are the same sand from the same manufacturor (oldcastle). They are sold under the different names for regional purposes.

Hammer - easy place for someone coming down from Austin is the Forum Shopping Center at IH35 and Loop 1604. It's not central San Antonio, but I don't see anyone complaining if someone were to be kind enough to drive it down here.
When is this expected to go down? Just curious as to what kind of time frame we are looking at for when you expect to get the sand in. Thanks

All,
After much late night driving and trailer tire changing; The sand is here!
However; before making a delivery all the way down to SA we need to have requests for at least a full pallet!
37 bags to go! Keep the requests coming in!
Keep in mind this is SouthDown aragonite sand, you don't come across it often.
At the stores here you have to pay $1.00 per pound for aragonite sand and we are able to sell it at a third of that!

Brett Wilson
Wed, 6th Oct 2004, 09:58 AM
We are thinking that the best way to get bags to San Antonio would be to head there after going to Houston on Saturday.
Can anyone recommend a location in EAST San Antonio near the I-10/I-35/410?
We'll be coming in on I10 and leaving on 35 so it would be nice if we could find a decent location along that route.
Any recommendations?

Ed - Just meet at the Forum shopping center there at IH35 and 1604. It's easier for you to get on and off as you will be heading north back to Austin. There is plenty of parking area around there for us to meet, either at the end of the parking lot in front of Pet's Mart or over at the now closed shoe store towards Home Depot.
If that is a problem, there is the Live Oak Convention center parking lot there at Pat Booker Rd., they have a large parking lot and usually is empty unless they have a show going on.
Just let us know when and where and we will be there, thanks.
Brett Wilson
Fri, 8th Oct 2004, 03:22 PM
All,
There are only ~30 requested bags to deliver to San Antonio which kills us considering gas and trailer costs because we are selling the sand at the low price of $12.50 per bag.
It looks like the best time and place for us to get the sand to you guys would be at the October meeting on the 24th at StephenA's house in cedar park.
If anyone would like their sand sooner it will be available at my house in South Austin or at Hammer's (ed) house in leander.
Please post here if you would like your sand sooner.
If you won't be able to make the October meeting hopefully someone from SA can pick up your sand for you.
