yes, that sand is DIRTY AND POLLUTED!

I would assume that since some of it is dirty and polluted that all of it is the same way... unless you have a way to test it.
It's not worth risking in a tank with $$$ livestock IMO...

You could set it up in it's own tank though... I just dont know how you'd test it for impurities.

Yeah, you could have a TAR tank. If youre looking to get free/cheap sand, just post in the wanted forum. There are plenty of generous reefers here who would hook you up IMO

Yeah, but i doubt anybody would hand over 100 lbs of LIVE sand..IMO

You might go over to Fin Addict to see what Felipe has; he set up a big refugium for live sand in the back room there. When I left San Antonio, he bought all my live sand, about 200lbs of really well stocked SD; he quarantined it and treated for flatworms. By now I'm sure it's ready to be sold, and there were LOTS of critters in there; a few orders of stuff from inland aquatics, about 20 lbs from Tim, really good stuff. I don't know what he's selling it for, but I bet it's pretty reasonable.
