Yup, that is very much looking like Aiptasia, the wonder pest anemone.

great... so I should go in there and yank it out? I got 2 peppermint shrimp thats supposed to eat on it as well....

if you can yank it out without disrupting the tank too much I would. However, it's likely that you already have it in other parts of the tank.
Peppermints dont always eat this stuff.... The closest to 'full proof' method would be to get a berghia nudibranch (like form instar), they live on aiptasia..... I don't think they are easy to keep though... ask instar for more info since he is/was breeding them.

I would like to recommend removing the blue paper on the back of your aquarium and adding silicone on it so no more water gets in it. I used to have the same problem until I added the silicone and place it under the black trim. Good luck!
