The meeting for September will be at Austin Aquariums on Sunday, September 26 at 2 pm.
The meeting will cover coral and fish dips both as preventative measures and to solve problems.
Michael has promised me he will be well stocked and he is also going to try to get a rep there.
Hope to see everyone there!

Sounds good, AA is where I got most of my setup for my 58gal (that's still cycling)
Should be able to make it for the Sept. meeting. Its right up Mopac from me. I'll be bringing a check for
The MAAST dues, or is it easier just to bring cash?
The topics sound prettying interesting and useful also.

This should be a great meeting. Austin Aquariums has always been very helpful. They actually show there face at the meetings. :o Overall they have a beautiful store & great staff. See everyone there :!:

Yes... I agree with Robert on this one! ;-) They have been an extremely valuable asset to me in my SW endeavours. :) Always very friendly and customer service oriented. We are fortunate to have them as a MAAST sponsor, too. :)

Hearing about store owners/employees participating in the club reminds me of when Austin reef keepers was an active club. Roger (former owner of aquatek) was at almost every single meeting and always donated items to be raffled as well as presented several times...
Much like what Tim Marvin and Jim Norris do/have done for MAAST.....

Austin Aqaruium is the back store on the corner strip and difficult to see unless you look right at the sign or happen to look right at the store. The parking lot has a fence around it so it looks like a private place. The good part is that the perimeter road to North Cross Mall is a short 3 block road. On the directions to the post above, that left is the mall perimeter road called Northcross Drive. The Aquarium is across from the mall.

If you're coming from SA, it's worth it to check out the Fry's store. It's at the corner of Mopac & Parmer Lane.

Can we give our dues to Misti at the meeting if we do want to officially "join up"? Just curious... I keep forgetting to get that taken care of...personally.

Greetings All,
I was just told about this organization by someone who is going to buy some Ricordia polyps from me at Nano-Reef.com, I'm in Sweetwater (about an hour from Abilene). I'm curious, do the meetings generally involve frag swaps? And do you have to be a charter member to trade/sell? Do you ever have meetings closer to West TX? If not, can anyone tell me if there is a West TX reef club? I still want in on this society, I just can;t commute long distances in general, espescially not monthly, and espescially not right now 7 months into my 2nd (and final) pregnancy. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hello Orca and welcome. Our meeting are usually in the San Antonio and Austin area. We did one in Corpus this year. You do not need to be a member to swap frags. There is usually a lot of swapping going on at our meetings. We also sometimes have frags as door prizes or raffle items.
As for a west Texas club, I am not aware of one. I would recommend you drop a PM to texasranchers. She is in San Angelo may be able to point you in the right direction. I believe there is a directory of clubs somewhere on reef central.

Thanks Gary,
I'm a little apprehensive about talking to that person though, as before I joined and was just browsing the site, I saw a post by her where she basically gave the very distinct impression that non-charter members are somehow lesser. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or what, but IMHO that kind of attitude isn't cool, and personally, if she feels that way, I would rather not have dealings with her of any kind, whether I become a charter member or not. And if she reads this and it offends her I'm sorry, but that is how I feel.
TexasRanchers,
If I have a misconception about you, please feel free to set the record straight.
