180 is nice, I just bought one but is only 6 foot long. If I were going to do a shark I'd go at least 240 which is the same height, width but is eight feet long instead. Just a thought since it will give more swimming room which is what one will need to survive.

I had a bamboo shark in 110G, but he was running out of surface area. I had to sell him when he got to 2.5' long. Most places say that a bambo, or epaulet shark are ok in 180G. The larger the better though, and try to get something with more surface area rather than height since they wonder on the bottom most of the time unless they are hungry, then they are all over the tank.

GO with a 240. 8' x 2' x 2'. That gives them a little room to swim. I read that the width of the tank should be at leat 2/3rds of the sharks body length. Go look at http://www.wetwebmedia.com/sharkfaq.htm

First and foremost, go read a few books on sharks and keeping them first before buying a tank. I had a think for doing a shark tank as well until a read up on them and there are actually very few that are suitable for even a 240g tank. Scott Michaels book on Sharks and Rays is a good start, but also look around online as Kaiser mentioned. Do lots of research if you really want to get into it. I was thinking about doing a saltwater pond using one of the big plastic stock tanks from Tractor Supply (8ft. diameter by 2ft. tall) if I ever got to the point of being ready to do a shark setup. The big issue then is having a skimmer capable of keeping that much water clean. Big $$$.

lol....well theres a couple things....IMO a 180 is too small for most species, a bamboo shark will get over 30 inches. a standard 180, is 6 feet, 2x2...when the shark does grow that will be too small.... If you can get different dimensions, with a wider base more like a short rectangle or a short cube...the pond idea is IDEAL for a shark if at all possible...it is rounbd, which is perfect for sharks, because sharks in a tank w/ angels like a squara, sometime the shark runs into the wall causing serious internal damage, if rounded corners are possible then thats the way to go. A Epaulette shark will et way too big, i have one already 33 inches... and still growing! so i think a epaulette shark is out of the question, i thinka Bamboo Shark or Mrble SHark is the best bet, a Marble shark is prob the best choice for u...unless u go wiuth a bigger tank, also consider ur tankmate choices, puffers, triggers, and angels ar eout of the question...if u have ne more questions, ill try to help u in ne way i can....ya the Sharks and rays book is a great book to have...

SORRY, sharks belong in the ocean, not in an aquarium unless of course it's a BIG one 1000 plus. just my 2 cents.
