hey Frog Guy, since your going in-sump, you have quite a few options, I would howver reccomend putting a Urchin Pro on it, same thing as a remora pro, just in-sump. They are rock solid skimmers. If you want to see some in action, head up to CB pets, they have at least 4 or 5 of them running in their sumps. (they also sell them.)

You may also want to hit Dan, or one of the other guys that do acrylic work here to build a custom skimmer for you.

good advice for heater, divide your needs in half, and buy two, that way if one fails, you still have something. (but you probably won't even need it in texas, nevertheless, great thing to have around.

I would advise against glass heaters, especially if you plan on putting it/them in your sump. I have broken several of these, and been mildly shocked. I believe marineland and at least one other company make composite heaters (plastic and titanium?).

yea but being shocked by one of those heaters is pretty fun... I was cleaning my tank once and everytime I touched water I got a tingle and it was driving me crazy because I didn't know what the hell was going on.

in pvc pipe? would it melt? the only true reason they break is change of temp

Since you're planning to use a sump, why not just put the heater in there?

EuroReef cs 6-2 or one of the inexpensive clones would be my reccomendation.

His sump is probably going to be too small to be able to get rid of the micro bubble from that skimmer. For a tank that small, just use a Remora & Prefilter box. Then add a CPR Hang on refugium later on down the road.

I don't know, I have a Euro-Reef in my 20gal sump. As long as I keep on top of the evap every 2 days then I have no probs with micro bubbles. And my sump has no bubble trap. the skimmer and pump was a real tight squeeze in my sump tho. I went with the CS6-2 for my 110 tall with the thought that if I upsize my tank someday, the 6-2 would be able to handle it.
