Can anyone tell me about prizm skimmers? and whether they seem to work well or not

they are ok once you get it all figured out, of course my tank has a fairly lite bioload.

If you can, get a remora instead, or a remora pro. or have dan make you one.

Could not agree more. Once you figure them out, they are OK, but they are not the best solution. I think the Remora's might be better although I have no experience with them.

I have a PRIZM skimmer and it works like junk. I would not suggest investing in one of these just because you will be looking for another one in a few months.

So what is would you consider to be one of the better brands of skimmers?

There was a thread on hang on skimmers awhile back. Most people were say Remora if you can afford if not CPR BakPak.

I rather run a seaclone than a prizm..although seaclone is really bad aswell, there are a few ways to super charge a seaclone, thats the project i have going on right now..

The small prizm gives a very dilute effluent and to me they make a lot of noise. I would agree they are junk and cost way too much to actually be in the junk category.

The PrismPro Deluxe is different. Thats the large model and is all I can fit under my low rider stand. Its all together a different skimmer. I like it a lot and once adjusted correctly it works great! I've had it a long time now and its all I use for skimming my 125 mixed reef. Its been a really great skimmer hanging off my sump as well as inside it.

Hi Larry,
Is the Prizm Pro Deluxe quiet? I tried several regular Prizm and they're all too loud.

My PrismPro Deluxe is very quiet when adjusted correctly. You have to turn the air/flow back just to the point where it stops making lots of air noise in the turbo-floater. The bubble concentration and flow are perfect then for skimming. And it seems to be really efficient when adjusted at that point.
