hey everyone, i just set up a new 30 gallon, but i accidently got a little bit of aquasafe in the tank and i think it's throwing the protein skimmer off now. is there a way to get the aquasafe out of the tank faster or will it just take time? the cpr bak-pak is the only thing that is running on the tank so the protein skimmer is all i have. i just started cycling the tank so no fish to worry about. thanks.

Are you talking about de-chlorinator?

If so, its OK. It won't hurt anything.

it's tetra aquasafe and i think it has the slime coat kind of stuff in it too which would be making the protein skimmer too foamy, right?

yeah, I think the fastest way to get it out is probably to skim it out. Never skimmed a tank w/ conditioner in it, but I think I remember hearing it will settle down shortly.

okay i will try that. last time there was more than just a trace in the tank and the skimmer foamed all the way up through the collection cup and got all over my ceiling (it's a low ceiling) but its just spilling bubbles into the tank. i'll try just skimming it out. thanks.

I think the slime coat stuff is mainly something similar to a soap. It wold have to have some surface active properties. Running some carbon would probably be helpful too.
