Got a little Red Slime in my Refugium, and I found some UltraLife Red Slime Remover in my fiance's aquarium stash. Has anybody used this stuff before? I was planning on under-dosing it just in case. I've got clams, sps, lps, and a few soft corals, use B-ionic daily. Product says it's totally safe with all these critters but I wanted to ask to be sure. Anybody have any info? Thanks.

Underdosing might not be a good idea. Cyano is more like a bacteria than an algae. Under dosing may result in resistance developing, similar to what happens with antibiotics. Why don't you just shut down your refugium, treat it, do a water change in the refugium, then put it back in operation.

I don't know what this stuff is that you have, but it might actually be an antibiotic. If its old it might be out of date. You might want to just toss it and go get some Chemi-Clean.

If its just a little cyano, you might just want to do nothing and keep an eye on it.

Yeah i think i might just forget about it for a while. I'm running Rowa-phos, and today i sucked most of it out of my fuge so it's not really a huge problem. I think I'll just wait it out. Thanks gary. Take care

Rowaphos is a good idea. I have a few small spots of cyano in my tank. I think the best thing to prevent it is circulation. They thrive on detritus buildup in these locations. The only place I have it is back in little caves on the bottom that don't get a lot of circulation. I think I'll try directing an MJ 1200 at the cave and see if that helps.
