Does it have small brown tenticles that come out on it. If so it could be Alviapora or some name like that. Others may know the name and spelling of what I'm thinking of.

looks like hydrapora. think that's the way you spell it. as it gets bigger the tenticles will turn brown but will stay green under the tenticles.

Hydnophora would be my guess. It's a very potent stinger so give it a wide berth from other corals.

Sounds about right. I had one that the tenticles didn't really get too noticeable until it got a bit larger. It will begin to encrust onto surounding rocks and will spread out that way and like Mike said packs a powerful punch to surrounding corals.

is it a soft or hard coral, if its soft it could be some sort of kenya tree/green finger.

Hydno.... It is cool stuff, just don’t let any other coral touch it. I had a LTA start moving, it found its way onto a frag of hydnophora (i got it from josh @ the frag meet in Plesanton). The LTA total engulfed the hydno for about 2hrs. Buy the next morning the LTA was dead and the hydno was all bruised/ torn up. It took about 2-3 weeks for the hydno to heal up.

I don't know if it was the hydno or what that killed the LTA. It looked healthy, was eating regularly and had not moved in a few months before this.

KJ, I agree with everyone else, I didn't know what i had (i got it from SamIAm) and everyone promptly identified it. Looks like mine is a little older than yours as the tenticles are getting darker.

Here is a shot, and extreme closeup.

Here you go....

Just right click on the image and choose properties. copy the link and use that. (if you didn't already know that...)

Brett, what is wierd is I used the IMG button (if you clikon on post reply instead of doing a quick reply) the boards own buttons appear to be using the wrong encoding... so when you got it up, I did a view source, and foudn your code, tried copying and pasting it, and it still didn't work... perhaps the system doesn't like me today... anyhow, it likes your brilliance, so no biggie! ;) thanks hoss!

No problem man, but....
What I mean was it didnt like your link.
Look at your link; it's an .htm page.
You need a .jpg (or any other image) for it to work.

Example:
http://www.maast.org - wont work
http://www.maast.org/modules/PNphpBB2/templates/PNTheme/images/lang_english/post.gif - will work (http://www.maast.org/modules/PNphpBB2/templates/PNTheme/images/lang_english/post.gif)
