Personally, if the tank is drilled or reef ready with an overflow, or hang on overflow for that matter I would block the overflow from filling into the sump, fill the tank, then let the tank drain into the sump until it stops and mark where your water is in the sump so you know how much over will go into the tank if the pump quits. Then fill the sump to a little above desired level, start the pumps and drains and you should be good to go. Hope that makes sense.......at least that is the way I would do it to avoid floods!

Ya.....I thought my new refuguim would hold a lot more volume than it did. I will hold about 15 gallons of water full but coming off my tank was about 10 gallons so I only got to add 5 gallons of extra water volume, but at least I have a fuge now!

LOL....that is a good thing! If I drip a drip from a peice of hose or something, she screams for 3 days!
