I RETURNED DRYGOODS TODAY AT ALAMO FOR 6.99. I BOUGHT IT JUST IN CASE BUT DIDNT END UP NEEDING IT. I HAD MY RECIEPT PRODUCT WAS UNOPENED AND WAS BOUGHT ABOUT 2 DAYS AGO. I COULD ONLY GET STORE CREDIT. I THINK THIS IS WRONG. I DIDNT MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT IT. I HAVE TAKEN STUFF BACK TO FINTIQUE AND THEY REFUNDED IT NO PROBLEM. IS THIS NORMAL?

It is here. The employees are not taught how to give refunds at all. Mine is always done by credit card and they still won't do it. The silly little paper that they use looks like a child's doodlings. I usually try to find something even if it is some more dechlorinator.

yeah I know what you mean. A couple of weeks ago I was buying a light. I wasn't 100% sure which one I needed so I asked if I could buy one and if it's the wrong one return it for the right one. The employee helping me suggested I buy both and bring the incorrect one back. The next day I came back and he's offering me store credit only. I wasn't too pleased about the fact that I wasn't advised of their exchage/credit only policy when I was being advised to buy both. I pressed the issue and was told by another emplyee, maybe as a joke, that I should learn to read next time (I guess there's a sign a couple of feet below the ceiling). After some arm twisting I got my refund, apparently I spend enough money there. I have been going there for over 2 years, but am now tired of their idea of good service.

well, I don't want to slam the store, but they should know they have and are losing business. My best friend won't go there anymore because he was treated rudely, there are a lot of new shops popping up, I and I think a lot of people, would prefer to give their money to someone who smiles at me.

most stores in SA lack customer service. that's why I drive all the way to Austin to go to Aquatek. Hands down best customer service around.

Unfortunately you had this bad expreience. I guess we have to remember that the bottom line is they are in business to make money and giving you store credit is the only way to keep the money in the store for them it would seem.
I have noticed they have had a lack of customer service for some time now. But, this is expected since they are expanding. Anyway, I find myself only buying dry goods every once in a while from them in an emergency.
Their coral selection is not very good and they limit the specimens they get in by the types of displays they have. Maybe they are having mangement issues.
Anyway,I get my live specimens from Aquatic Warehouse. Remeber you are the consumer and you can buy your supplies and livestock anywhere. Don't limit yourself to one vendor or get upset if you have a bad experience. There are plenty of businesses who need your dollars.
I am off the soap box now!

I own 2 companies and my view on this is: always give the customer what they want and the customer is always right. Of course you can't give them the price they want, but you can refund money on unused items.... That is ridiculous that they don't refund for unused items Every shop in Austin will refund your money, and this will get you more sales and money in the long run. Satisfied customers come back again and again....

Every shop in Austin will refund your money..
There is one shop in town I had to do some arm twisting to get an EXCHANGE on. Not even a refund. I grabed the wrong test kit and got home before I relised it. Turned around to exchange it. Oh man what a chore. He must have been having one of his days.

They will. I'm sure they don't realize all the other stores in town will do refunds on unused items. They are still new and have to work the bugs out, so to speak.
