I've noticed that the pod population in our 100g crashed shortly after introducing two small Banggais, which are now not so small :D I'd really like to add a mandarin sometime in the future, but I suspect the Banggais would compete too much for pods. Is anybody out there successfully keeping these species together?

Keeping a mandarin in a tank with any other pod eater usually isn't going to work unless you have a huge fuge that is pumping them out.

Or, if you are lucky enough to find a mandarin that will eat anything. My female will eat bloodworm, brine and mysis shrimp and flake!

I got lucky.

prof,

That's a Lotto fish. The odds are about the same.

honestly, I think any fish out there that eats pods and other types of reef roach should be listed as a con-specific with the mandarin.

One of my goals with the new 115 is to try and get a pair of mandarin to spawn, and then see if I can rear the young... hopefully if they can be tank bread, they can be trained to take marine frozen 'staple' foods.
