Thought it might make an interesting thread since so many of us got them recently!

Oh, and an interesting read as well: I was verys uprised they packed such a punch... perhaps he is allergic, I did not use gloves and suffered no harm.

Here is a pic yesterday evening, the anemone was acclimated via drip for approx 2 1/2 hours, then added to an open spot of rock, I knew it would move around, so I didn't make any attempt at special placement, I just held it up to an area where there was nothing for it to sting, and let the foot attatch. This pic was taken apprximately two hours after adding it to the tank, and it has travelled down about 2 or 3 inches I would guess...

This picture was taken just a few minutes ago, and I am assuming since the little fella hasn't moved any, he has found his location to stay in for a while. Note, to my chagrin, he has landed right between a leather coral and a Kenya Tree/Colt. (The colt popped up almost out of nowhere, so I am just going to frag it off and give it away...) The Leather was deposited ther my my interior decorator (Tuxedo Urchin) both will obviously be moved. oh, and you can see the fish my wife has named Rompers saying hello.

lol... mine did a 'purge' today, got nice and tiny and sick looking, and then puffed back up about an hour later... I fed it a defrsoted cube of prime reef, which it readily accepted...

can you tell I am slightly excited?

So I take it if the RBTA decides to make home near a bunch of other corals or zoos then the only fix is to move the other corals around it so they don't get stung to death by the RBTA??

Got a RBTA yesterday at Fin-Addicts (just opened and looks like it will be a great place) about same size as Ram Puppy's and thought I'd enter this thread. Put him in area I wanted him to set-up, but he moved to spot he wanted and thus far has stayed there. I am glad it is not far from where I had hoped and he did not make me move anything as he took space close to the glass, back part but very visible. Just hope he stays there. My two percs have gone by a few times, but no attempt to move in. Fed him some "defrosted" mysis shrimp which he took. I have trouble posting pictures (says they are too big) so can't show him off yet. BTW, thanks for site with all that info on RBTAs.

Mine settle about 5 inches from were I put him and has stayed put. I fed mine a little Krill yesterday and he was happy to take it. Get kind of worried about my cleaner shrimp though, they keep messing with it. Hope they don't become food! LOL

Anyways, here is a picture of mine, sorry about it but I took it with my camera phone.......

lookin good PB!

I removed the leather coral and the colt to another location in the tank... the leather looks like it may have been seriously injured, only time will tell if it will recover, but i have high hopes. :)

I was real luck....I move the surrounding corals away from where I was HOPING that it would take hold, then placed it there and it wondered around a little and then attached here and has stayed ever sense. I moved the corals around again to make sure there was planty of room around the BTA so not to loose any. I love this thing....and they are beautiful additions to any tank. As you are, I am very excited about mine. I have taken several pictures, sent them to friends and family, posted on here several times......:-)

Mine seems to be doing well. I've tried to get some pics to post but the ones I have dont do it justice.

It has taken up residence in the spot I put it in and hasnt roamed much. I hope it stays there but wont be suprised if it takes off.

My fire clown has taken a liking to it but he seems to roughing it up. Should I have any concerns about my clown harming the anenome? He's a pretty big clown.

Mine stayed right where I put it, surprisingly enough. It is right next to my green BTA. The first day the green BTA completely covered the RBTA and it just stayed all shriveled up. On the second day he really opened up and stood his ground. Mine is a small guy, fully extended it's about 3", but it sure is beautiful. It took a small silverslide the third day and seems much healthier since then.

This is one of the best deals I've ever gotten since I've been reefing. Thanks again Tim.

The clowns haven't touched it yet, but I suspect they will in time.

zhorne, I don't know, but in the article/web site that Ram Puppy provided in his opening post on this, it says "But if you mix green BTA's and Rose BTA's you are likely to have chemical warfare and the rose will win. So think twice about mixing the two." Just thought I'd share what I read so you can check it out if you want.

My RBTA is still "settling" in - still in same area and is eating (have fed it some krill as well as the mysis shrimp) He looks good, just wish the percs would buy/rent the space.

you know, I had read that, and the guys experience aside, aren't they both E. Quadricolor? one would think the only difference is the color of the zoanthelle algae... if the war against each other, wouldn't that argue that they are in fact different species?

I have a green E. Quad and RBTA that are practically joined at the hip. They are touching each other constantly and have been for a year with no problems. I could just be lucky though. The clowns rough them both up.

Maybe they ARE having chemical warfare but it just take a few years for you to see anything from it thus they reason they stay togther ??????

The guy didn't say how LONG the chemical warfare takes....... LOL

I have heard the same thing in the past, but it was always in relation to anemones of different species. I haven't seen any issues as of yet.

My female clown was sleeping in the RBTA last night, but the male won't even think about leaving the green.

I'll keep an even closer on their relationship though, just in case.

I have the same situation as Tim, no problems, I have read that they do well in groups and there was no mention of color.

My RBTA has now moved to the top of my tank on the "skimmer box" (covers my mag 3 pump) and almost dead center of tank. Has anyone elses moved since we started this thread? Also, FWIW, a RBTA can cause anthelia to be very unhappy and look like h... -- will be interesting to see if it comes back.
