I recently moved my corals to someones house so they can be watched. My favorite cap bleached out. What should we do? Will the color come back?

Once they bleach, they are usually goners.

probably some sort of stress. pH difference, salinity difference, lighting difference, there are any number of reasons. If that is all you lose during a transfer, that is pretty good, but you should expect to lose a couple.

I like to kill off gold zoo's and they will kill caps quick if you rip the zoo's and they release the chemicals within. If the caps are bright white, it is over. If not check water parameters and keep them in good flow.

SPS corals can bleach or release their zooxanthallae but still be alive. Can you check to see if there are any polyps still extending??? If so you should see the cap. color back up with good water quality. If there are no polyps then I would not hold out much hope. I have had a frag bleach white but still have polyps and it recovered fine.
Good luck....

My largest cap bleached when I rearranged my tank and it was moived from under the center brace. It bleached nearly completly white and stayed that way for ~ 6 weeks. It suddenly started to regain its color and started to grow in a more up right fashion compared to the flat growth earlier. I nearly broke it off the rock several times but never had the heart. Im glad I left it alone.
