August Meeting - FRAGS!!

The meeting for August will be graciously hosted byBlake Kopplin. He has an awesome set up that most have heard about and are interested in seeing in action! It is 215 show tank with behind the scenes refugiums - yes! That was plural! He has macro tanks, xenia tanks, frag tanks, sand tanks... well, just lots of connected tanks - and a HUGE Matt's Super Monster Skimmer.

The location will be in North San Antonio, near 1604, close to Blanco and Bitters. As the date nears we will post an exact location and directions. The date is going to be SUNDAY AUGUST 22 at 2:30 pm. Please note the change in the time!!!!

We are working on getting a mixed box of Figi corals to frag and sell. This will be very similar to the ones that Tim did for us a few times. Until we get a confirmation from the vendor and see what we recieve an exact price will be hard to give you. That will be posted soon. Every time that we have ordered from this company the corals have been very worth it and everyone walked away very happy! I am sure that this will be no different!

As you become SURE you are going to the meeting, please indicate in this thread. A good head count really helps the host and myself with planning!

I plan on being there too. Went by Blake's place today to pick up an RBTA and would like to get at bit more involved in this group and learn more from some of the sages.

Since I'm pretty new to many corals I really don't have anything to trade but will bring my ATM card for stray frags that are for sale. :)

Thanks to Blake for holding the RBTA for me (and Tim and BA for making this happen and getting RBTAs to SA) It's still acclimating but it's really expanding in the bag. Should have it in the tank in about 2 more hours (right before lights out) I thought about putting it in my 100 gal with 400 W MH but decided to go with the 65 with 440 W VHO because the 100 gal has 2 Clarkii's that might be a little too rough on it til it grows a bit.

Are kids allowed? I have a 12 and 13 year old they are well behaved and enjoy aquariums as well.

My one and only requirement is that we get new MAAST members, so bring your dues. Oh, and if you have a little xenia for the fuge, that would be nice too.

Remember, tell my wife how you cannot BELIEVE I built that tank for under $500.

On another note, I have all the soft drinks and most of the food (well, don;t have the food yet, but I will - hope you like pizza rolls!). If someone wants to volunteer and bring one appetizer and another for one dessert, that would be great.

The address is 16103 Mission Ridge. Real easy to find. Coming from 1604, take Blanco Rd inside the loop (south). Take a left at the first light (this is Mission Ridge). Tell the guard you are going to my house. Go straight. There are some pretty big speed bumps so watch out for them. Go throught the stop sign. Once you come to the next bump after the stop sign, look to the left and you will see a little cul-de-sac. My house is the second one in the cul-de-sac. There is a blue suburban in the driveway and the garage doors will be open.

The corals are here and acclimated.... May be more of a coral meet than a frag meet... There are many, many, many brains and such that are GORGEOUS, as well as lots of leathers. I will take pictures as soon as everything is open and happy.

Real quick ground rules:

1.) Meeting starts at 2:30
2.) At this time, I am having some problems with my tank and some of my corals, so I am not fragging anything from my system. I do have some zoos and a couple of things in the frag tank that I will trade
3.) If you do a frag swap, please do it in the garage. I have wood floors and try to keep water off them as much as possible.
4.) Pay your MAAST Dues

Sorry that I couldn't make it yesterday. Was on call and the software performance enhancements I wrote exposed some other system problems so I was quite busy all day yesterday and most of last night fixing production systems.

I did get to see Blake's very impressive fuge system not long ago when I got an RBTA from him but have yet to see the display tank. Certainly didn't want to miss out on that but you gotta keep them paychecks coming when you never get more than 2 lotto numbers right! :)

Hopefully will be able to attend a meeting soon and get to officially join and meet some more people.
