i'm sure glad i had a tank full of live rock. thursday evening we had a storm come in and lost power around 4:00 in the afternoon and did'nt come back on till 7:30 the next morning. i have a zenia fuge with no live rock. well i lost half of that but my tank with all the corals was fine. THANK GOD. to much to loss in there. not worried about the fuge, they grow like weeds anyway. what i'm trying to say is that live rock really works when your IN THE DARK. has this ever happen to any one?

On my way home from work that day I noticied lots of people were without power. Luckily, the long outage was not in my neighborhood. We lost power for about 10min.

Last time we had a long power outage I used a battery powered airpump that I got at Walmart which came with a insulated baitbucket. I think the power was out for 5 hours or so. I didnt suffer any losses.

My power was out on Friday night from 4:00PM until 1:00AM. It came on right as I was really starting to get worried. I did find out though that my sump was at the right level for a power outage. :D

Dan, glad to hear your cube survived! Your Xenia needed a little trimming anyway!

We didn't loose power, but have gotten a little worried before. After a few hours I started bailing water from the sump to the tank with a bucket to get a little circulation & oxygenation going.

Glad to hear y'all survived!

I do a "Power Off" drill about every other week to make sure my siphons stop & my sump doesn't overflow.

This is when something like a power inverter (cheap) comes in handy.

A battery operated air pump will also work great during an outage. Alll you need is some water movement and air exchange and you should be fine for that long. An air pump will do that trick for you in times of need, and very inexpensive.

The maint. guy that takes care of fw tank here at work told me 1 capfull of hydogen peroxide added straight to the water creates oxygen for 24 hrs. It's supposed to be safe for both fw & sw.

The hydrogen peroxide raises the redox of the water... it's also good for certain mat-algae problems in FW tanks.

ya but how much do you use per gal.

Check this site out....it calls for .5 cup per 100g. The maint guy must have meant 1 capful per gal.

This should be moved to the main discussion forum, doesn't have anything to do with Group Orders! lol
