I got a zoanthid rock from reefer, on one side of rock there is a pile of small green things in one of the holes. They are like threads, very small, greenish color, with dark stripes. The seem to crawl/stretch all over the rock, wiggleing around. If I get near it with my hand they all pull back to the hole. Also there is an aiptasia anemone close by, it pulls its self under the coral. How will I remove that? How should should I remove the aiptasia from the other rocks? They are in my 10 gallon right now with my other corals, I want to get rid of the aiptasia before I move them to my main tank.

I kinda fragged the zoanthid, just a small piece and bingo found the pest. I took a bowl with some tank water outside in the sun and removed all traces of the little bugger(and some bubble algea) then discarded the water of course. Then I rinsed it with some tank water, then through out that water. How will I remove the tiny ones? The only aiptasia left is on a rock with some shroms and xenia, they are tiny, like baby feather dusters.

Yano, I think you may have a form of medusa worm, closely related, if not actually the same thing as a spaghetti worm. it is a creature beneficial to your aquarium. How big is your tank? If you are worried about aptasia being a pest, I would ask Instar if he can spare a few berghia. instant solution, your pest becomes a food source.

check out hte pictures at the bottom of this page, they are pics of medusa worms that have come out of their hiding places.

yes! It looks just like Loimia medusa (besides the color). I will do some more research later. Thanks!

I have several of those in my tank. For some reason they really seem to like the rocks that the zoos are on more than others. They are some sort of tube/spaghetti worm and if you pick up the rock you'll see that it's built a little tube out of your sand. Mine likes to build up the substrate around the rock where they are living, neat little thing but never seen a picture as good as the one you posted.

By the way those arms that are extended are pretty long if you hadn't noticed yet.
