hey all,

im about ready to start building the stand/canopy combo for my mb7 project. the lights are supposed to be arriving tomorrow in san antone and hopefully i can get someone to bring them up soon after but before that i want to ask if there is anyone in the austin area that has a shop and can help me build and make the stand?

id be more than appreciative and can give frags or rock or sand or even my fish in exchange for the help and use of your tools. :)

please let me know if anyone can help me so i can plan a day or two to begin and hopefully make the best dang mb7 EVER! :D

I think my Dad has one, I don't think he would let anyone borrow it, but I suppose I could try and ask him. :D

agh! alex are you serious?! **sigh** see, ive found the difference between austin and sa. we have tim(and jim when he was here) for corals and frags but you guys have dan and all the other folks that can make stuff :P

yknow, this thing is worth taking a weekend to drive down to sa and build if they would let me use their stuff. i could help you out making that cpr you were talking about also :) ive become a master hole driller from my nanos here!!! :P

lemme know and if there is anyone in austin lemme know too!

Steve, I have a garage full of tools, compressor, nail guns, mitre saw, all kinds of stuff, the only thing I dont have anymore is my table saw, for a tank that small, theres a good chance you may not need a table saw. What kind of design are you proposing? Youre welcome to use anything I have ifn' ya want.

JIM! m'man!!! you're helpin' me out a bunch here dude! :D

i was thinking the same thing about the table saw, i might get away with using a circular saw if i keep my cut really steady. other than that i would use a jigsaw, miter saw, belt sander, hand sander, and i would DEFINITELY need to use of some clamps.

the design im going to do is on the diy thread i made about this project.

http://www.maast.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=6091

im gonna need to exchange my 2 sheets of 3/4 inch birch for a sheet of 1/2 and 1/8 inch and i need to find a place that sells 1" mdf. know of anywhere? i found a really awesome thread at nano-reef that shows a great way to make the bowfront with an mdf thingy.

do you have experience with wood? im ok at it and i have my plan in my head that im in the process of putting to paper but i know im gonna still need some advice and help.

Steve, I did all sorts of woodworking back in the eighties, all the way from building pole barns for agricultural use, to custom homes, cabinetry, to spiral staircases, so, yup, I have a little experience. The curve on the tank will be tricky, Id be interested to see the thread on nano reef, normally Id use birch plywood (as opposed to medium density fiberboard (mdf)) , and "curf" the inside to form the curve. Anyway, Id be glad to work with you on this project, looks interesting and a lot of fun!
