Hopefully some of the pros out there can help me with this question. I am trying to figure out what the differences are between power brad and finish nailers are? I know the guages of the nails are different, usually 18 for brads and 15/16 for finish nails. Other than that, what is up? I noticed at Lowe's the brad nailers are half the price of finish nailers. I'm looking for a good tool for doing trim work around the house and whatever little carpentry projects come up in the future.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Chris

Basically its the size as you mentioned. The 18gauge brad nailer is for your smaller woodworking and finer woods. The 16 gauge is what is commonly used for trim in a house. I usually use both (because I can :-D ) using the brad on the thin portion of the casing and the 16 gauge to secure it through the drywall to the framing. Hope that helps.

No problem! The finish nailer will accept longer nails as well as short ones (size depends on the brand), mine takes up to 2 1/2", but the brad doesnt give you the option of longer nails. I switch guns instead of nails.
