I use it when I do the daily top offs on the saltwater systems at work. The RO/DI water at work tends to take a little more buffer than the instructions say. There are other products out there like Pro Buffer dKH that I use also. In my tank at home I usually mix calcium w/ my makeup water so no need for a seperate buffer. HTH

Louis - You lost me. You add calcium so you don't have to add buffer? Calcium and buffer are definitely not the same thing. Do you have a reef tank?
kjswift - If you are keeping your tank properly buffered your pH should be in an acceptable range. Of course it doesn't hurt to double check every now and then. In my experience, if your alkalinity (buffer) is in the proper range your pH should usually be OK too. pH has a tendency to drift down if you don't add buffer because of acids produced by biological activity. That's the purpose of the buffer to neutralize the acids as well as maintain alkalinity for the growth of coralline algaes and corals.

Sorry I didnt make myself clear. I use a liquid calcium/alk supplement and sometimes kalkwasser. The high PH of both is more than enough to bring my PH into the range I want it (and sometimes higher).

i use proper ph to buffer top off water. sometimes. when i am not feeling lazy. im more likely to do it on my smaller tanks. with my 120 I just dump the topoff in. my ph stays stable though. my calcium and alk are in the proper range.

Louis,
OK, I understand now. You are using a 2 part supplement.
