Would this router and table be good enough for shaping and cutting acrylic?

I need to get one for my 13yr old so he can play. He was really impressed with Matt and Dan at your house. Plus if I use my Sears Card I save $20.

Sounds like you just want to spend the money!! I get that feeling too!!! Lets see him do his thing. Nothing like given the guy some tools & watching him go. I think it is a great thing to do!

Its not so much the router, but the bit. The router and table are fine now go spend more on the bit :D .

you might want to think about an non-craftsman brand as the sears stuff now uses plastic locking mechanism to remove bits and they typically cannot handle a speed control unless its built in to the router. Invest in quality bits!!! just my $.02

y dont you just make one, it sounds like your a diy'er, make it out of that white laminated mdf, can buy the tracking and everything for hundreds less than crappy craftsman stuff. if you diy you could have a huge surface to work on and leave the possibilities unlimited

It will do the job. I am not a big fan of Craftsman power tools. You will get more precision adjustments from a better brand.
This is what I want...
