What can a person use to help with taking off the paper protective shield of acrylic? This is some old acrylic I found arround the house. 25"x25" sheets.

Kai It should peel in a corner & just come off with a little pulling. Work it at a 45` it should unless it is aged to it or something wierd like that.

This stuff has been arround for a while. It don't just peel up anymore. I thought maybe there is some cleaner or other solvent to make it easier.

You can try some nail polish remover (acetone).

That bites! Maybe some Simple Green, I use it to remove glue that window films leave behind. I use a version that is not green but the same stuff.
Good Luck!

Would a hair dry help loosen the adhesive on it? You could try heating a corner of it with the hair dryer then pulling up on the paper while heating the paper. Dont know if it will effect the acrylic, but thats what I do when I have to remove large decals from a car. Hope this helps.

Acetone will ruiin the acrylic and might acutally further bond the paper coating to the the sheet. At work we acutally throw a lot of acrlic away for this very reason.

I think I'd try the hair dryer also. If you stay in one small spot you'll get an idea if it is going to work. I'd be carefull with chemicals.

Simple green works well on glass & does'nt harm plastics, Maybe try a test spot first. Heat works wonders as well.
