I purchased 2 great clams from Barry and both have been doing great. They are both Maximas one blue and one gold. The blue is @ 3" and the gold @1 1/2". The gold is taken out every other day to be fed as its a baby and kept in moderate flow. My parameters are all good, but the baby isnt extending its mantel like it used to. It reacts to shadows and light, but just doesnt look like it used to. I have a pic from before and will grab a present one tomorrow for comparison and post. Is this a downward sign or .... ? Thanks

The little clams need to be fed seperate from the tank to ensure they get fed well.

No parasitic snails ... Ive been looking. The nerites however lay eggs on both of the clams shells. The sesame seed looking eggs.

BA ... feed the clam DT's. Add it to the container and after a few minutes the water is clear ... it has eaten and goes back in the tank.

What type of light do you have, how far are are the clams from the light, what is your CA level?

I have raised clams from that size and I only direct fed them once a week.

I wouldn't let any snails hang out on the clam! Clean them off.

I do clean the snails off when I can. As for the CA its at 460. I have 2 250w 20k and 2 vho 140w actinic and they sit @ 10" off the water and the clams @ 6" under the water. Pics soon after lights come on.

I knew what the "bad" snails looked like from reading and there are no signs of them anywhere.

My 150Watt MH are 10" off the water and the clams are in the sand about 20" from the surface. What type of light were they raised in. You could be burning them.

No they are not being burned as they sit under the center brace which does not have a halide above it. The tank is a 100gal (60") and I will add a picture of the blue too. He sits @ the same height in the tank 4" away with the same light and the same flow ... ect.

I tried posting, but the file name is invalid ???

My gallery (http://maast.org/modules.php?set_albumName=prafferty&op=modload&nam e=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php) The blue is on the second page.

Link (http://www.clamsdirect.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=695) to the way it used to look.

I thought I was looking at something different than you were talking about. The blue looks great to me, the gold may be a little retracted but maybe just being termpermental at the moment.

When I first got my teardrop it didn't extend it's mantle really well for the first month. Now has been growing great and extending great also.
