My new tuxedo urchin has decided he is going to knock my little xenia frag off it's perch on an almost daily basis...

Is the marine epoxy sold in fish stores pretty tough stuff? I would like to be able to just snap off the frag if I need ot move it, but I would like a solution permenant enough that the urchin isn't going to make the xenia practice high diving on a regular basis...

so... tough... but not tough... or is there a great resource out there, widely available that i have so far been dense enough to miss?

Thanks guys! (and gals)

I had to get rid of my Urchin, he was knocking everything over or carring it around with him. The Epoxy works well and you can break it loose if needed.

cool I will get some of it then. Joshua, yeah, it is on a small pebble of a rock, which is what I would attatch to of course... thanks... the urchin is now wandering around with my colt coral on his back. :) same situation with him as with the xenia... I am going to go pull it off since apparently colts like to wage chemical warfare, i want him back in his lonely corner.

PH Probe Mobility System

:) LOL

Ok... Now the urchin has found his original bud, the leather coral. Is the leather one I am going to have to rubber band to a surface until it attatches itself? I need to get a positive id on it.

Lol... Gotcha.. you know I heard that xenia is the weed of the coral world, the xenia i have, I think I have tentatively identified as the red sea variety, it seems to stay fairly small, has very short 'branches' and is pinkish in color, in the 2 1/2 months (i think) tha ti have had it, it has only doubled in size, and has only now just started a very small offshoot trunk... I know there are tons of different xenia types... but this one I was expecting to attatch on it's own a while back, and it hasn't go figure.

got a pic? Im by no means a zenia expert, some people have it in plague proportions, others struggle to keep it alive. Ive recently had good luck growing it in my 12g nano under a 96w power quad, this is actually the first time Ive had good luck with the stuff, for some reason, some does and some dont,,, I dunno, sure is cool though. Mines the super pulsing variety and it pumps like a mo-fo!

mine pumps like crazy too... as for pics, I have some bad ones, but my camera is in for maintenance... if you have hargraves "The complte book of the marine aquarium" i believe my species of xenia is top left one on page 206. Mine just seems to be a bit more pink at times, that could be lighting. It has grown, and seems very healthy, just isn't acting like a weed
