i have a BIG green bta, and it has ALWAYS been in the saem spot, and yestewrday it moved, it stay in back of the same rock all night, and midday today it climbed over the top(of many corals) of the rock and went back to it's old spot, does anyone know what is was doing????, or if it just thought(i want a nicer spot, then decided it was too lazy to look and went back home) i have no concern, but just wondering if anyone's anemone has ever done this, when it has been in the same spot for a very LONG time

Either something has changed in your tank, like flow, light, or proximity of a new animal, or the anemone itself has grown to the point where it's habitat needs were no longer being met by that spot. Hopefully it will stay put. If you had moved a coral somewhere near the anemone or simply added a potentially competing animal, that's probably why it moved. Hard to tell.

i also just put a rbta in there, could he possibly sent and recieved chemicals from the rbta and moved for some reason???but he's back at his original spot, and all the corals are doing fine

I had a big rose BTA, about 14", that hadn't moved since I got him about 4 months ago. Then he spent about two days roaming around and ended up in the same spot. The following morning there were two smaller ones! :D

They hid in the shadows for about two to three weeks. They are just now starting to come back out into the light. Good luck.

Do a large water change and it will probably split.

That is just what it took for mine to split.

I'd bet the addition of the other anemone is what caused the movement of your original one. I'm really just guessing, but I seem to remember reading something about that.

I'm waiting for my LTA to split. Its about due. The thing about it is that they usually split 3:1. For a while I did a lot of moving. Every time I moved they would split. I had 3 of them at the time, so I would end up with 6-9 anemones after a move. Where was MAAST when I needed to it? I could have been doing some serious trading then. As it turned out, I got some great store credits for them and did one trade with a reefer for a gorgeous frogspawn that is ready to be fragged. I sure got the better end of that deal.
