i have both a Power COmpact custom sealife fixture w/ the built in fans and moonlights, and have a set of four 48 inch VHO bulbs, two white two acitinic, just like the PCs, it really doesn't matter to me, what would provide better growth for a refugium that i'm planning on macroalgae, caulerpa all types, i also have 10 one foot mangroves, i also want to put xenia in the refugium, which lights will do better, i also have a set of reg. flourescent, but don't think they will do anything, right?

The 6500K flourescent lights at home depot grow algae like crazy and do OK for corals like xenia; I'd get them.
I think they are called daylight deluxe. they will be marked with 6500K and HD only has them in 48" lengths.

FYI They are NO(normal output) bulbs, but they put out a lot of light.

I would go with the VHOs and switch to the 6500's I mentioned when they get old :)
Some VHO ballasts will fire NO bulbs.

Forgot to mention, those 6500's are like $7 for a PAIR.

Id go with the VHO's simply because of the longer usable life. If you go that route Id also ditch the actinics for daylights.
