I have 1 Crocea, 1 Maxima and 1 Gold Teardrop Maxima. I have read that I could keep the Gold Maxima but the others may not do too well. By the end of next week I will have 5-6 140W VHO bulbs on my tank. I read that I can put the gold Maxima higher on the rockwork and it would be ok. But the Other 2 are too light needy for VHO and may not last long.

Any suggestions for my clams? If I cant keep them I will put them up for trade or sale.

EDIT. Read my last post....

I wouldn't try it with the crocea personally. You coudl try just doing a longer photoperiod and / or keeping them higher in the tank to offset the loss of intensity. If they do ok they may end up changing colors too.

In addition to what MikeP said, the higher you put them the less visible them become :( .

You said in a week there would be more bulbs? Why not add MH?

I just decided to take out my 3 400W MH's .. My electric bill was not condusive to my wallet. So I have traded of my SPS for low light corals already. The clams are the only other thing I have to worry about the light needs.

I hope to keep the teardrop, and I will probably post the other 2 for sale in the next day or so.

I would be interested in a trade. I have some zoos, green star polyps, mushrooms and xenia if your interested in any of them.

I would be interested in some nice colored zoo's and maybe some shrooms.

I am going to end up with a 180 gal Zoo tank with a couple of softies. LOL
Hopefully all the rare colors as well. It will be my zoanthid propogation system. :-D

I have some green shrooms-one rock approx 4-5" covered with shrooms. I have another rock approx 2-3" covered with yellow/orange zoos. I'll try to post some pics but Im not to hopeful, my camera is pretty weak.

TAXMAN....I have 440 VHO and currently have 3 clams....1 Squamosa, 1 Teardrop Maxima (both on sandbed doing great) and 1 Ultra Blue Maxima sitting high on the rocks. My 1st clam was the Ultra Max - have had him a little over a year now and he is doing great - beautiful in fact. I've had the Squamosa for about 9 mos now - very open and growing quite well....happy on the bed. The Teardrop Maxima I got from Minh (Corpus Christi) back in January. It is doing great on the sandbed next to the Squamosa.

Knock on wood...(!) I've had NO problems with all three. I make sure I replace my bulbs about every 6-7 months max.

Good luck.

Yea. I have read that the Max's might do ok if you raise them in the tank. But the Crocea will not do well and will probably die. So I will get rid of that one and keep the Max's and keep an eye on them.

Johnny,

Let me know if you don't have any takers of the Crocea. I'm about to unload a bunch of softies to make room for more SPS.

Another idea... Why not trade the Crocea for a Derasa or Squamosa?

Well guys. SAD day. I have been out of town since Friday morning. I look into the tank this morning and this very Crocea that Alex was going to take for me is dead. That took only 5 days wothout MH lighting. He was doing great under the MH. That was really fast. I really thought he would last longer than this, so I could get rid of him.

BTW. I am going to give up my Blue Maxima. About the same size at the Crocea. I dont want it to die on me. PLease someone take him ASAP. I am going to keep the teardrop since he is Gold and I have been told they will be fine in VHO lighting. If he starts looking ill, I will post to get rid of him too.

Let me know what you have to trade. PM me. I was going to S.A. tonight anyway to take the Crocea to Alex. But Now I dont know if he'll want this Maxima.. So he does have 1st dibs on it. But let's get a deal going in case he doesnt let me know today. It might be yours.

And I like GaryP's idea about a clam trade. Let me know if yall have a Derasa or Squamosa.

EDIT. Basicaly this is gonna be a 1st come 1st served on this Maxima. I dont want to wait to get him to a new home. I would like to see him go today.

Man, I'd love hime I just don't have time to make it up there. 800 watts of MH 20K would probably be great for him.

GaryP has the Maxima. Hopefully he can nurse it back to health. I am just shocked on how fast they went south after losing the lights.

I've heard that once clams get settled in and acclimated to their environment they get real bad about being moved or in this case given less of what they are acclimated to.

Sure am sorry about the crocea, I sure never would of thought less than a week but then thats a crocea for you.
