Well,
we are in the summer move as well, along with other people I have seen on this board. Since I was going to break down my 75 gallon tank and transfer it, I decided I would get rid of my 5-6" DSB and go to a piece of black starboard. Here is the before pic with the DSB:

and with the new Black Starboard:

I like it!! Much more room to aquascape. My corals are a little stressed from the move, as am I...

More pics are in my gallery starting on page 3.

It's made of the same material that cuttingboards are made of. There are a couple of threads on RC about it. I ordered it from http://www.cuttingboardcompany.com

This place is great, you can pick from different colors and have it custom cut to the size you need it.

It works great for BB, incase of a rock slide, it will protect the glass.

Thanks! I think everything will grow in nicely.

The site that I ordered it from cut it for me. To my exact measurements. I accounted for a 1/4" clearance on all sides. I also requested that the edges be rounded. This way it fits nicely over the silicone at the bottom. It really makes siphoning easy. I just added a bunch of snails and they are doing a great job keeping the bottom clean.

I did not seal it with anything, I just made sure that the bottom was spotless before I put the starboard down. Then piled on the rocks.

That Looks Awesome.

I checked http://www.cuttingboardcompany.com but they want $175.78 for a board for my tank which seems a bit high since there is a store here in town that sells it for $75 but they only have it in white :( . I didn't want to go white but for $100 dollars less white will have to do.

I really like the look of the black board. I notice they don't list it by default so guessing it's a special order type thing.

If you go to the website and click on custom cut. It has an order page where you can input the measurements you want and the color you want and it will give you a price quote. They have a bunch of different colors to choose from. Not really special order and they were great to deal with. I am really pleased with the black.

Thanks for all the great comments.

This is probably due to higher demand from reefers and they can hear the ka-ching-ka-ching. I read a post on RC about star board and the link to "line the bottom of your reef tank" was just added. If you know someone that is in the restaurant business have them give a call. It will probably be cheaper.

After the board is in doesnt "slime" and stuff build under it between the glass and along the edges?

It looks good, but not natural.
