i've heard different ways, but i wanna hear from you guys...i have a toadstool leather that is about one foot tall and maybe 8inches wide at the top, what is the best way to cut it so makes a good frag, and it will be easy for the mother leather to heal up, and take natural form in the quickest time..thx in advance

I think I read somewhere about someone cuting completely around the edge in an even cut. It was something to the affect of turning a 16 inch pizza into a 14 inch, then cutting them into smaller pieces to attach to rocks for frags. This way the mother leather heals up looking just like it did before the frag was done.

I could be completely wrong about this since I don't have one of these. I think I read about it either here or possibly on RC fairly recently.

interesting, makes sense c/ then there wouldn't be an open wound persay, and it would just heal up around the edges, plus w/ mine if i do it that way i can gets LOTS of frags

I do it exactly like Josh said. You'll probably have 20-30 frags when you finish. Leather are almost unkillable.

how about if you what to move it off a big rock thats like under bigger rocks? can you cut it at the base like you would a tree and put it on another rock or is that to much? never fraged one. really need to move it but i don't want to kill it.

I have never cut across the base. I have torn them off rocks when just part of the base is connected like 1/3 on one rock and 2/3 on another rock with no problems. I think I would move the rocks to get it out.

Bobby, are you planning to offer any of those frags for sale/trade here? Count me in if you do that...

Still new and learning. I have one that is doing well and has a second one growing at base of same rock. Dumb question - after you cut the leather and have all those frags, how do you put them on another rock?

how do you put them on another rock?

Super Glue, A loose rubberband around a rock, or just put them in a rubble pile with very little flow.
