I finally broke down and got 2 Tunze stream pumps. One is a 6060 and the other is a 6080. Nether are controllable, but will it hurt them to put them on the wavemaster pro?

Tunze says not to, but several people on RC have done it with out any problems. I don't know if long term effects can hurt the pumps. I broke down and got the 6100's. I'm surprised Tunze does not sell some thingamabob to make them controllable.

Alex - you might want to ask rvitko over on the Tunze forum on RC. I seem to remember something about not cycling them on and off more than once an hour or so on a standard wavemaker.

Alex, I'm going to hook my 6060 on a Timer to com on once or twice a day only, since these pumps are not designed for on and off operation.
If you notice even the 6100's that have controllers do not turn on and off, they always stay on but the speed is reduced from anywhere between 100 and 30%.

Yes, it will hurt them........(Tunze that is because you won't buy more stuff from them...) I have also heard they run fine on the pro.

i have a TON of flow right now
little giant 3MDQX (~1000GPH)
Mag 18 Closed Loop (~900-1000)
4 MJ1200's (295 each)
6080 (2200)
6060 (1800
the Tunze's keep rearanging my sand :? i was hoping to put the 2 on the wavemaster so it can vary the flow a bit.

IMO, you are better off selling both and getting a single 6100 with a controller if you can find it.
Another think to do is go back to the SCWD but run EDUCTORS on the end which will give you alot of flow.

Would the eductors work with the SQWD attached you think?

tunze stream 6060 and 6080 has a built in clutch assy on the impeller shaft. it takes about 15minutes to reseat itself. so i have mine on digital timers, which run 2hrs15min on, and 1hr45mins off opposite of each other. if you run these on a wave master pro, you will cause the clutch to fail. the 6100's have a different type of motor than the 6060 and 6080, which allows them to be controlled.

Mike, I think they would with a properly plumbed MAG 18 (no T's & few elbows).
I have an Eductor on a Sedra 12,000 and boy can it make some current.

My 6100's used to stirr my sand around constantly leaving only glass bottom in the middle and two huge piles of sand on the sides. I thought I was going to end up with expensive maxijets because I had to crank them down so much. Roger at Tunze said to aim the flow of each to about 1/3 of the way off of the front glass. No more sand storms and now they are set to alternate between 100% and 30%.
